Relationship Between Illness Uncertainty and Family Resilience Among Caregivers of Stroke Patients in Chinese Nuclear Families: The Mediating Role of Perceived Stress.
Stroke is a major disease endangering the health of Chinese people, and patients need to rely on the care of family members, which brings heavy caregiving burdens and pressures to caregivers and families, thus disrupting the stable family structure. In view of this, this study was to analyse the current status of family resilience among caregivers of stroke patients in Chinese nuclear families, and to explore the correlation and mechanism of action among perceived stress, illness uncertainty and family resilience. ⋯ Healthcare professionals should pay adequate attention to the level of illness uncertainty and perceived stress among carers of stroke patients, with the need to take measures to reduce carers' illness uncertainty and perceived stress in order to improve family resilience.

Eliciting Depression Patients' Preferences for Medication Management: A Protocol for Discrete Choice Experiment.
Depression threatens people's lives and imposes huge economic burden. Antidepressant therapy is the first-line treatment for depression, and patient adherence to medication is the key to successful treatment. Depression patients have poor medication adherence, which leads to failure of depression management and significantly poorer clinical outcomes. Incorporating patient preferences into clinical decisions can improve uptake rates, optimize treatment adherence. A discrete choice experiment (DCE) can elicit and quantify individual preferences. Previous DCE studies were conducted in developed countries and ignored the influences of factors other than the medication. This paper outlines an ongoing DCE that aims to (1) explore medication-management-related characteristics that may affect depression patients' adherence to antidepressant, (2) elicit how depression patients consider the trade-offs among different medication managements. ⋯ Our study shows how the development process of the study can be conducted and reported systematically and rigorously according to the theoretical foundation and design principles in DCE.

Strategies for Effective Dentist-Patient Communication: A Literature Review.
The effectiveness of high-quality dental care predominantly lies on the communication between dentist and patient. However, little literature has reported the importance of these "soft skills" in dental practice. The aim of this literature review is to explore strategies for effective dentist-patient communication. ⋯ This form of telecommunication is not only a convenient way of communication but also reduces the costs associated with a dentist visit. In conclusion, effective dentist-patient communication is vital for the success of dental practice. Dentists who prioritize communication and build positive relationships with their patients are more likely to achieve positive outcomes and foster the expansion of their dental practice.

Mediating Effect of Perceived Health Competence on the Association Between Mindfulness and Adherence to Health Behaviors in Patients with Acute Coronary Syndrome: A Cross-Sectional Study.
Given the importance of adherence to health behaviors in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) and the potential influence of mindfulness, it is important to determine the association between mindfulness and adherence to health behaviors and its potential mechanisms in this population. Perceived health competence is a person's confidence in his/her ability to achieve health goals successfully and may explain how mindfulness influences adherence to health behaviors. This study aimed to examine the association between mindfulness and adherence to health behaviors and whether this association was mediated by perceived health competence. ⋯ The adherence to health behaviors in patients with ACS was very low. Mindfulness positively predicted adherence to health behaviors, and perceived health competence partially mediated the association between mindfulness and adherence to health behaviors. Healthcare providers could intervene patients' mindfulness or perceived health competence to improve adherence to health behaviors.

Exploring Patient Preferences for Information About CT Radiation Exposure: Bridging the Gap Between Patient Preference and Physician Practice.
CT scan utilizes ionizing radiation poses a danger to the patient's health. Thus, telling the patient about ionizing radiation would be critical in promoting shared decision-making and improving patient-doctor communication. However, few studies have examined this topic broadly. ⋯ The vast majority of patients who underwent CT scans did not receive enough information about the harm of the scans. However, most of them preferred to know about this harm.
