SPUR: A Patient-Reported Medication Adherence Model as a Predictor of Admission and Early Readmission in Patients Living with Type 2 Diabetes.
Poor medication adherence (MA) is linked to an increased likelihood of hospital admission. Early interventions to address MA may reduce this risk and associated health-care costs. This study aimed to evaluate a holistic Patient Reported Outcome Measure (PROM) of MA, known as SPUR, as a predictor of general admission and early readmission in patients living with Type 2 Diabetes. ⋯ Higher levels of MA, as determined by SPUR, were significantly associated with a lower risk of general admissions and early readmissions among patients living with Type 2 Diabetes.

Evaluation of the Knowledge and Attitude of Adolescents Regarding the HPV Infection, HPV Vaccination and Cervical Cancer in a Region from the Northwest of Romania.
In Romania, after reaching the age of 18, teenage girls can make an informed decision about vaccination. The aim of the study was to evaluate both knowledge and attitudes related to HPV infection, HPV vaccination, cervical cancer, as well as intentions, reservations, reasons that could influence the decision related to vaccination. ⋯ Alongside interventions targeting parents and health-care professionals, it is necessary to improve the level of knowledge of adolescents about HPV infection, HPV vaccination and cervical cancer, by organizing information campaigns in schools, campaigns in which professionals in the field should be involved, but also by implementing education programs addressed to them.

A Cross-Sectional Analysis into the Willingness and Hesitancy to Test and Vaccinate Against COVID-19 Among the Elderly Population in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
COVID-19 remains a public health concern. Vaccinations, testing and tracing have been proven to provide strong protection against severe illness and death. Older adults are amongst the groups with an increased risk of severe illness. This study aimed to explore the willingness and hesitancy of the elderly population in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to test and vaccinate against COVID-19. ⋯ The current findings add to the epidemiological evidence and show that the social network theory within the context of health may have played a role in self-awareness of previous infections. Also, social factors should be incorporated in public health interventions and public health campaigns targeting the elderly are still needed especially with the continued discovery of variants of interests.

Perspective and Experience of Patients with Aplastic Anemia on Medication Adherence.
Drug treatment is critical for patients with aplastic anemia, and medication adherence directly impacts the therapeutic effect. Poor medication adherence is common among patients with chronic diseases. However, knowledge of the perceptions and experiences of patients with aplastic anemia regarding taking prescribed medicines is limited. ⋯ This study provided new perspectives on the medication adherence of patients with aplastic anemia, which may be valuable in clinical work and research. Further interventions should be developed for intentional and unintentional non-compliance. Future research can start with developing professional assessment tools addressing the influence of cognition and emotion on compliance.

Applying Learning Principles Within Parent Education: Exploring Nurses' Practice and Parents' Experiences.
In parent-education practice nurses use Learning Principles (LPs) when helping parents to develop the knowledge and skills required to care for their children. LPs are basic precepts of learning, comprising people's beliefs, behaviors and reasoning processes. LPs underpin parents' active engagement, confidence building and decision-making, as information provided becomes usable knowledge. However, the ways nurses apply LPs in parent-education practice are poorly explained in healthcare. Likewise, descriptions of parents' learning experiences, associated with the use of LPs in nurse/parent-education interactions, are lacking. This study aimed to explore and describe nurses' perceptions and use of LPs, and parents' learning experiences in one healthcare organization. ⋯ Nurses used LPs in practice but their knowledge was tacit. Through metacognition, nurses started to recognize the ways LPs influenced their practice and parents' learning capabilities. Increasing healthcare constraints, including time allowed for parent-education, require nurses to optimize their use of LPs. Future research should identify ways nurses can communicate their use of LPs, potentially enhancing parents' active learning experiences and concordance with health recommendations.
