Relationship Between Symptom Burden and Self-Management Among Patients with Chronic Heart Failure: A Cross-Sectional Study.
Chronic heart failure (CHF) is a cardiovascular disease that seriously jeopardizes global human health. Studies indicate that good self-management can be effective in controlling disease symptoms. However, there is still insufficient evidence on the association between self-management and symptom burden among CHF patients. This study aimed to observe and assess the correlation of the self-management with the symptom burden and each dimension status in patients with CHF. ⋯ Hospitalized patients with CHF had heavy overall symptom burdens, and their self-management levels were moderate to low. There was a negative correlation between the total self-management score and each dimension of symptom burden.

Informing Patient-Provider Engagement for Shared Decision Making Through Mobile Health Applications.
The study utilized a cross-sectional dataset to identify demographic and health factors associated with patient utilization of mHealth applications for engaging with healthcare providers. The focus was on adults with chronic health conditions as the primary app user group. The goal was to reveal specific barriers and facilitators to app adoption among smartphone users, with the aim of highlighting opportunities for upgrades that promote patient empowerment as a prerequisite for shared decision-making (SDM). ⋯ Due to difficulties obtaining in-person healthcare, the COVID-19 epidemic forced a swift deployment of mHealth technologies. Even in the absence of a crisis, mobile health applications continue to be crucial for improving patient-provider engagement and developing novel approaches to healthcare delivery. During the pandemic, people with numerous chronic diseases used apps to stay in touch with doctors and maintain their reliance on these platforms. Nonetheless, different smartphone users continue to use mHealth application in different ways. The findings revealing barriers in mHealth app adoption among certain patient subgroups suggest opportunities for developers, in collaboration with users and providers, to enhance inclusion and acceptability when upgrading mHealth application platforms.

Derivation and Validation of a Prognostic Model for Acute Decompensated Cirrhosis Patients.
Acute decompensated cirrhosis (AD) is related to high medical costs and high mortality. We recently proposed a new score model to predict the outcome of AD patients and compared it with the common score model (CTP, MELD and CLIF-C AD score) in the training and validation sets. ⋯ This new score model appears to be a valid tool for assessing the long-term survival of AD patients, improving the prognostic value compared with the CTP, MELD and CLIF-C AD scores.

Household Contact Tuberculosis Screening Adherence and Associated Factors Among Pulmonary Tuberculosis Patients on Follow-Up at Health Facilities in Shashamane Town, Southeast Ethiopia.
The greatest risk of getting tuberculosis (TB) infection is contact with patients who have pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB). The World Health Organization (WHO) strongly recommends tuberculosis screening for all household contacts of PTB patients. However, there is no information on household contact screening adherence among PTB patients in Shashamane town. ⋯ HHCS adherence in our study was sub-optimal referenced to WHO and national recommendations that all household contact should be screened. Having age less than fifteen years contact, education status, knowledge, attitude, receiving health education and type of pulmonary tuberculosis were factors associated with adherence. We recommend increasing community awareness of TB, providing health education TB patients and their families, strengthening positive attitudes toward HHC screening and strengthening the commitment of health professionals to screen for HHCs.

Hopelessness in Patients with Early-Stage Relapsing-Remitting Multiple Sclerosis.
Hopelessness is a risk factor for depression and suicide. There is little information on this phenomenon among patients with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS), one of the most common causes of disability and loss of autonomy in young adults. The aim of this study was to assess state hopelessness and its associated factors in early-stage RRMS. ⋯ Hopelessness was a common phenomenon in early-stage RRMS, even in a population with low physical disability. Identifying factors associated with hopelessness may be critical for implementing preventive strategies helping patients to adapt to the new situation and cope with the disease in the long term.
