Expanding Diagnostic Workup for hypertensive Intracerebral hemorrhage: a retrospective LATAM cerebrovascular registry comparison.
The leading cause of spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) is hypertensive arteriolopathy. In addition to age and hypertension history, patients usually present other comorbidities that potentially increase morbimortality. Ancillary studies other than non-contrast computerized tomography (NCCT) may help clarify the diagnosis and increase the detection of potentially modifiable vascular risk factors. Unfortunately, their use is not routinely performed. ⋯ The use of ancillary studies in the diagnostic workup of ICH was poor in the three registries, and mortality was high. The lack of ancillary studies performed may negatively impact outcomes.

New-onset Geriatric Epilepsy in a Latin American Country: A Multi-centric Study from Mexico.
Background: In Latin America, epilepsy in the elderly is a neglected issue that has never been studied. The epidemiological transition has significantly altered the demographics of epilepsy, and therefore, we would like to draw attention to this topic. Objective: We require local real-world evidence, as the literature often depicts a different scenario, including pharmacological management. ⋯ Conclusion: NCC remains a frequent cause of new-onset geriatric epilepsy. This distribution is not seen in the literature, mainly representing patients from wealthy economies. In our setting, financial constraints influence the choice of the drug, and newer antiepileptic drugs should be made more affordable to this population with economic and physical frailty.

Information is needed on the safety and efficacy of direct discharge from the emergency department (ED) of patients with COVID-19 pneumonia. ⋯ Discharge from the ED in patients with COVID-19 pneumonia was infrequent and was associated with few variables of the episode. The EDR30d was high, albeit with a low mortality.

Admission Monocyte/HDL Ratio Predicts Adverse Cardiac Remodeling After St-Elevation Myocardial Infarction.
Inflammation plays a critical role in cardiac remodeling after myocardial infarction (MI). Monocyte to high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol (HDL-C) ratio (MHR) has emerged as a potential indicator of inflammation. ⋯ These results indicate that admission MHR is a useful tool to predict patients with AR who are at risk of progression to heart failure and mortality after MI.

Hospital Arrival and Functional Outcome after Intracerebral Hemorrhage.
Intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) is associated with an ominous outcome influenced by the time to hospital presentation. ⋯ In this study, less than half of patients with ICH arrived to the hospital in < 6 h. However, early arrival was not associated with the short-term outcome in this data set.
