To assess the serum concentrations of soluble T-cell immunoglobulin and mucin domain 1 (sTIM-1) and soluble P-selectin (sP-selectin) in individuals who had obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS). ⋯ People with moderate or severe OSAHS had higher serum sTIM-1 and sP-selectin levels, and elevated sTIM-1 is an independently related factor for OSAHS.

To evaluate the prevalence of stroke among chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients in Taif, Saudi Arabia. ⋯ The prevalence of stroke in our cohort was 8.3%, and the majority of cases were ischemic strokes. Furthermore, ischemic strokes were more frequent in peritoneal dialysis patients, whereas hemorrhagic strokes occurred more frequently in hemodialysis patients with a statistically significant association.

To determine the impact of implementing a new pediatric inpatient structure - the clinical teaching unit (CTU) - on length of stay (LOS) and other patient care outcomes. ⋯ The implementation of a new pediatric inpatient team structure led to significant improvements in many patient care outcomes, including decreased LOS.

To investigate the predictive significance of dynamic changes in the neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and platelet counts (PLTs) in patients with advanced gastric cancer (GC) during chemotherapy. ⋯ Our study suggested that high post-chemotherapy NLR and post-chemotherapy PLT might be adverse prognostic markers in advanced GC patients undergoing chemotherapy.

To investigate the association between sleep duration (SD) and body mass index (BMI) in young adults. ⋯ Participants with a SSD had significantly higher BMI than normal and long sleepers. Short sleep duration is an independent risk factor for increased BMI, which potentially leads to 1.47 times increased odds ratio of having OW and OB.
