To evaluate the potency of Manuka honey UMF +15 against Carbapenem-resistant Enterobacterales (CRE). Bacterial resistance is a worldwide problem that is increasing year by year, especially Carbapenem resistance. Alternatives to antibiotics are needed to both reduce costs, and to reduce the spread of antibiotic resistance, with the ultimate goal of saving lives. ⋯ This study shows the remarkable antibacterial activity of Manuka honey and suggests that this natural remedy might be used in the future as an alternative treatment option against Carbapenem-resistant Enterobacterales (CRE); however, further clinical trials should be performed to corroborate our initial findings.

To retrospectively assess the serum levels of zinc, folate, and vitamin B12 in healthy children aged between 3-12 months. ⋯ In conclusion, we do not recommend routine screening for zinc, folate, and vitamin B12 levels in children under 12 months of age without active issues or chronic diseases due to the associated costs. We propose that evaluating serum levels of zinc, folate, and vitamin B12 is a more appropriate clinical approach in children at risk for micronutrient deficiencies and in selected patient groups.

To identify potential diagnostic markers for small cell lung cancer (SCLC) and investigate the correlation with immune cell infiltration. ⋯ This study identified 2 diagnostic genes, ZWINT and NRCAM, that were related to immune cell infiltration by integrating bioinformatics analysis and ML algorithms. These genes could serve as potential diagnostic biomarkers and provide possible molecular targets for immunotherapy in SCLC.

Effect of the prone position on mechanical power in elective surgical patients under general anesthesia: A prospective observational study.
To evaluate how the prone position influences mechanical power (MP) during elective surgical procedures. ⋯ Position changes influence MP. Returning to the prone position increases MP. An increase in BMI is associated with an increase in MP.ANZCTR Reg. No.: ACTRN12623001281684.

Surgeons may encounter a grossly normal appearing appendix in a patient with clinically suspected appendicitis. The purpose of this study is to determine the practice of pediatric surgeons in Saudi Arabia when this is encountered, and determine the reasons behind their decision making. ⋯ The majority of pediatric surgeons in Saudi Arabia would proceed with an appendectomy when an intra-operative grossly normal appendix is seen in patients suspected to have acute appendicitis. There is a clear lack of published pediatric guidelines and large studies to guide the correct course of action.
