Acute pulmonary embolism in a child with ANCA-negative Idiopathic Pulmonary Capillaritis.
Diffuse alveolar hemorrhage is an uncommon and often fatal condition in children that is characterized by distinct histopathological etiologies. Herein, we discuss the case of an 11-year-old girl who presented with acute worsening of hypoxia and left-sided chest pain. The patient had lung biopsy-proven idiopathic pulmonary capillaritis and was being treated with prednisolone every alternate day, azathioprine, and hydroxychloroquine. ⋯ Negative results were obtained on a test for thrombophilia. In children, pulmonary embolism with anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody-negative idiopathic pulmonary capillaritis is a rare clinical condition. The exact cause of thrombus formation in this case is unknown; however, obesity, immobility, and chronic systemic corticosteroid therapy probably played a role.

To assess the capacity and readiness of primary healthcare centers (PHC) for the implementation of basic strategies for the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) at the Ministry of National Guard-Health Affairs (MNG-HA) in Saudi Arabia. ⋯ The MNG-HA PHCs appear to have the capacity to integrate strategies for the prevention and control of NCDs as part of their daily functions. However, improvements are required in some areas to facilitate the integration process and training the health care workers (HCWs) on prevention and control of NCDs as part of their daily practice.

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a major national and international health burden. It is one of the most common liver diseases worldwide and the most common cause of abnormal liver enzymes in many developed countries. Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease is also known as an important cause of cryptogenic cirrhosis and second leading cause for liver transplantation. ⋯ In spite of promising performance of non-invasive tools, liver biopsy remains the gold standard test for NASH diagnosis. Over decades, many drugs have been investigated in phase 2 and 3; however, no approved therapy to date. Despite the alarming global rates of NAFLD, there are no local community-based studies on the prevalence of NAFLD or local practice guidelines on its management; this expert review aims to fill this gap.
