To evaluate our experience with the management of blunt liver trauma at Riyadh Central Hospital, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. ⋯ The nonoperative treatment is a safe and effective method in the management of hemodynamically stable patients with blunt liver trauma. The nonoperative treatment should be the treatment of choice in such patients whenever computed tomogram and ICU facilities are available. However, further studies with larger number of patients are needed to support our results.

Non-invasive positive pressure ventilation (NPPV) is a relatively new modality of managing acute respiratory failure (ARF). It has not been applied before in our area. The aim of this study is to verify the use of NPPV on patients with ARF at a general hospital level. ⋯ Non-invasive positive pressure ventilation is an effective ventilatory support in ARF in a proper clinical setting. It may be used safely in the general hospital outside the ICU.

Enterococcal bacteremia in a teaching hospital in the Central region of Saudi Arabia.
To study enterococcal blood stream infection including the different species isolated, their antibiotic resistance associated risk factors and outcome of treatment. ⋯ Efforts to reduce the occurrence of enterococcal bacteremia should be focused on appropriate use of cephalosporins and external devices.

Intestinal parasites among presumably healthy individuals in Lebanon.
To determine the prevalence period of intestinal parasites among presumably healthy subjects in Lebanon. ⋯ The data presented shows the need to improve hygienic conditions to contain the problem of intestinal infections with parasites in Lebanon.

Medical journal editors play an important role in optimizing research publication. This study evaluates the views of Iranian medical journal editors, and their knowledge of medical publication standards. ⋯ The results show that peer review is favored by all the editors studied, though it seems that journals do not follow clear-cut policies in this regard. Most of the editors, agreed with the statements of URMS to some extent and generally most have average to high knowledge of URMS.
