We investigated the short- and medium-term effectiveness of genicular nerve radiofrequency (RF) applied in patients with chronic knee pain due to osteoarthritis. ⋯ RF neurotomy of genicular nerves led to significant pain reduction and functional improvement in a subset of elderly patients with chronic knee osteoarthritis pain, and thus may be an effective treatment in such cases.

Healthy life style recommendations (e.g., physical activity, healthy diet, and decreased cholesterol levels) play an important role in controlling blood pressure (BP). This study aimed to assess lifestyle modification factors among patients diagnosed with hypertension. ⋯ Our study showed that somewhat hypertensive patients in Jordan did not follow a healthy lifestyle. Therefore, urgent action by addressing behavioral risk factors has a positive impact on preventing and controlling hypertension.

Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is one of the most common causes of infertility. One of the best therapeutic options for PCOS patients is intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI). In vitro maturation (IVM) can also be a useful technique for these women. The goal of this study was to evaluate both the zona pellucida (ZP) birefringence and meiotic spindle (MS) of in vivo- and in vitro-matured oocytes from PCOS patients using the PolScope system. ⋯ Clinical IVM is a safe technology for the maturation and maintenance of oocyte integrity in PCOS patients. The use of the noninvasive PolScope is recommended for detection of healthy oocytes in ICSI.

Human papillomaviruses have been established as a risk factor for invasive carcinoma of the uterine cervix. HPV E6/E7 oncogene expression has recently emerged as a promising biomarker to determine the risk for progression to high-grade cervical lesions. The aim of this study was to evaluate HPV mRNA and DNA detection in samples with abnormal cytology. ⋯ The E6/E7 mRNA test is a robust indicator of cytological atypia and correlates better with progressive lesions than DNA assays.

The aim of this study was to examine the reasons constituting the definition of 'difficult patient' and to evaluate attitudes and behaviors of physicians in coping with these patients and their relatives. ⋯ Physicians frequently experience negative communications with patients and/or relatives. Awareness of physicians about the concept of difficult patients and the causes and solutions should be enhanced.
