The aim of the study was to analyze the relationship of the immune response mediator genes’ polymorphic loci (TNFA rs1800629, LTA rs909253, IL1B rs16944, IL2-IL21 rs6822844, IL2RA rs2104286, IL6 rs1800795, IL10 rs1800872, MIF rs755622, CTLA4 rs3087243, NFKB1 rs28362491, PTPN22 rs2476601, PADI4 rs2240336) variants with the methotrexate efficacy in juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA). ⋯ As a result of the study, the relationship of the alleles/genotypes of the IL1B rs16944, IL10 rs1800872, CTLA4 rs3087243, NFKB1 rs28362491 polymorphic lociand the TNFA rs1800629*A - LTA rs909253*G haplotype with the methotrexate efficacy in JIA was established (taking into account the differences by sex).

Comparison of mesenchymal stem cell sheets and chondrocyte sheets in a rabbit growth plate injury model.
The treatment of posttraumatic deformities and differences in length between the extremities resulting from physeal injury remains controversial. The aims of this study were to compare the efficacy of tissue-engineered, monolayer, and allogeneic mesenchymal stem cell sheets and chondrocyte sheets for physeal arrest treatment and to investigate cell sheet technology as a novel method for cell transplantation in physeal cartilage repair. ⋯ Our results support the hypothesis that MSC or chondrocyte transplantation using the cell-sheet technique described in the present study aids in the regeneration of cartilage tissue during physeal arrest after growth plate damage.

Subjective noise sensitivity (SNS) is not only one of the most important predictors of perceived noise annoyance for the subjects exposed to the noise, but also strongly related with some psychological conditions and poor health perception of the subjects. Weinstein’s Noise Sensitivity Scale (WNSS) is widely used for measuring of SNS. ⋯ Our data demonstrated that Tr-WNSS was a reliable, valid, and invariant scale for the Turkish population, and not affected by sex, age and education level.

To investigate the correlation between the Glasgow-Blatchford score, shock index, and Forrest classification in patients with peptic ulcer bleeding (PUB). ⋯ A moderate correlation was observed between the Glasgow-Blatchford score and shock index in patients with PUB, and the correlation between the Forrest classification and Glasgow-Blatchford score or shock index was relatively low.

The aim of this study was to investigate the possible toxicity of the Ankaferd Blood Stopper (ABS) on the neural system. ⋯ No clinical or histopathological evidence for the neurotoxic effect of the ABS was observed in the present study. Our findings might precipitate the use of ABS on human subjects regarding medulla spinalis surgery.
