Patients with inflammatory rheumatic diseases faced several challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic. Uncertainties such as the lack of evidence regarding the use of immunosuppressive (IS) therapies and deferred patient care because of limited health resources affected negatively on many aspects of treatment decisions and routine follow-up of the patients. In this study, we aimed to investigate the prevalence and severity of SARS-CoV-2 infection, the impact of the pandemic on delays in routine clinical follow-up, changes in IS treatment, and COVID-19 vaccination status of patients with Takayasu arteritis (TAK). ⋯ Deferred patient care and disease flares are the most significant problems in TAK patients during the pandemic. The risk of TAK flares may outweigh the risk of COVID-19 infection.

Within this study, we aimed to investigate the radiological and functional outcomes of acetabular fractures involving quadrilateral surface using 105° drill attachment in the anterior intrapelvic approach. ⋯ Reduction and fixation of deep intrapelvic fractures are risky and difficult due to the narrow anatomy and adjacent crucial neurovascular structures. As the 105-degree drill application is safe and easy to intervene in, short surgery duration and satisfactory results with minimum complications can be obtained with a 105 angulated drill in the deep pelvic region.

Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) is an antimalarial that is widely used in the management of rheumatoid arthritis and other autoimmune diseases. In this study, we aimed to examine the vascular effects of HCQ on rat aorta (RA). ⋯ HCQ produced relaxation of RA rings. The relaxation mechanism differs according to the concentration of HCQ. At con-centrations of 10-6 and 10-5 M, the relaxation is endothelium-dependent and mediated by NO. We strongly suggest that Ca2+ channel inhibition is involved at concentrations of 10-5 and 10-4 M, as well as NO.

Heat shock protein 90α (Hsp90α) is considered a tumor biomarker in many human malignancies. This study investigated the diagnostic value of Hsp90α combined with other traditional lung cancer biomarkers (CEA, CYFRA21-1, and NSE) and its role in monitoring the treatment response of lung cancer patients. ⋯ Hsp90α combined with CYFRA21-1, CEA, and NSE can be used as diagnostic indicators of lung cancer. The Hsp90α level can be used to monitor treatment response.

Cardiovascular complications, including ventricular arrhythmias associated with abnormalities of ventricular repolarization, are the leading cause of morbidity and mortality in patients with acromegaly. Herein, we aimed to investigate ventricular repolarization using Tp-e interval, Tp-e interval/QT, and Tp-e interval/QTc ratios in acromegalic patients compared to healthy subjects. ⋯ The current study is the first to have shown significantly increased Tp-e interval, Tp-e/QT ratio, and Tp-e/QTc ratio were increased in acromegalic patients. These results may be important for screening malignant arrhythmic events in acromegaly.
