Toe transfer to hand is a viable option for patients, which can provide functionally useful digits. Harvesting of the second toe is still accepted as a demanding surgical procedure. The major questions before this transfer are the location and the dominance of the arterial anatomy of the second toe. The authors present the incidence of patients with a dominant plantar artery system and a description of a versatile technique that can be used for toe transfers in these patients. ⋯ This is the first study to recommend the use of dorsalis pedis as an arterial graft instead of vein grafts. This surgical method described will make these rarely performed transfers easier and affect the success rates positively.

: Intercity travel is one of the most important parameters for combating a pandemic. The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in different computational studies involving intercity connections. In this study, the effects of intercity connections during an epidemic such as COVID-19 are evaluated using a new network model. ⋯ This model is quantitatively very efficient in modeling real-world COVID-19 epidemic data based on populations and geographical intercity connections, by means of estimating the number of deaths, disease spread, and epidemic termination.

Antinuclear antibody (ANA) is among the most frequently ordered tests in paediatric rheumatology setting. Diseases like systemic lupus erythematosus and Sjögren syndrome is closely related with a positive ANA and classified as ANA associated diseases. Besides, ANA test is ordered in patients with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) to assess the risk for uveitis and a positive ANA could be detected in children with nonrheumaticrheumatic conditions. In this study, we aimed to investigate frequency of positive ANA in paediatric rheumatology setting and the association of immunofluorescence staining patterns and titres of ANA with rheumatic diseases. ⋯ Our study showed that the majority of children with a positive ANA test were not diagnosed with a rheumatic disease. While titres and patterns of ANA were found to be important in diagnosis of rheumatic diseases, ordering ANA test with solid indications might give improved probability of rheumatic diagnoses in children with a positive test.

Pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) is characterized by maladaptation of pulmonary vasculature which is leading to right ventricular hypertrophy and heart failure. miRNAs play a crucial role in the regulation of many diseases such as viral infection, cancer, cardiovascular diseases, and pulmonary hypertension (PH). In this study, we aimed to investigate the expression pattern of eight human plasma miRNAs (hsa-miR-21-3p, hsa-miR-143- 3p, hsa-miR-138-5p, hsa-miR-145-3p, hsa-miR-190a, hsa-miR-204-3p, hsamiR-206, hsa-miR-210-3p) in mild-to-severe PH patients and healthy controls. ⋯ : In the early diagnosis of PAH, hsa-miR-21-3p and especially hsa-miR-143-3p in peripheral plasma can be considered as potential biomarkers.

Nodular thyroid disease is a frequent finding seen in patients with acromegaly. Ultrasound-elastography (US-E) appears to be a helpful tool for the diagnosis of thyroid cancer. The aims of this study were to evaluate thyroid nodules in acromegaly and to assess the diagnostic accuracy of US-E in detecting thyroid cancer in this population. ⋯ Thyroid nodules in acromegaly patients have a higher elasto score and the prevalence of hard nodules is higher in active disease. However, increased stiffness of nodules by US-E in patients with acromegaly does not seem to estimate the malignancy of the nodules.
