This study investigated the possible degeneration in cochlear morphology induced by preeclampsia (PE) and the therapeutic/preventive effect of vitamin D (Vit D) and magnesium sulfate (MgSO4) used separately and together on feto-maternal outcomes. ⋯ The administration of Vit D and MgSO4 during pregnancy has beneficial effects on PE pathology and may play a significant role in preventing PE-related complications, including cochlear degeneration.

Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) are noncoding RNA molecules with a heterogeneous structure consisting of 200 or more nucleotides. Because these noncoding RNAs are transcribed by RNA polymerase II, they have properties similar to messenger RNA (mRNA). Contrary to popular belief, the term "ncRNA" originated before the discovery of microRNAs. ⋯ They are the focus of current molecular research because of their pivotal roles in cancer-related processes such as cell proliferation, differentiation, and migration. The incidence of pancreatic cancer (PC) is increasing around the world and research on the molecular aspects of PC are growing. In this review, it is aimed to provide critical information about lncRNAs in PC, including the biological and oncological behaviors of lncRNAs in PC and their potential application in therapeutic strategies and as diagnostic tumor markers.

Ulcerative colitis is a chronic, immune-mediated disease characterized by recurring episodes of mucosal inflammation in the colon and rectum. The primary pathogenic mechanism of ulcerative colitis is the dysregulation of the mucosal immune response. The disease follows a relapsing-remitting course, and the goal of management is to successfully induce and then maintain remission. ⋯ After extensive progressive research, oral small molecule therapies targeting mediators of ongoing inflammation represent an exciting and revolutionary change in the treatment of ulcerative colitis, especially for patients with moderate-to-severe disease. In this review, we aimed to summarize the available experience and ongoing research on oral small molecule agents in the management of ulcerative colitis. The available experience and ongoing research with promising outcomes provide convincing evidence that the value of oral small molecule agents is fact not fancy.

Surface electromyography (surface EMG) is a primary technique to detect the electrical activities of muscles through surface electrodes. In recent years, surface EMG applications have grown from conventional fields into new fields. However, there is a gap between the progress in the research of surface EMG and its clinical acceptance, characterized by the translational knowledge and skills in the widespread use of surface EMG among the clinician community. To reduce this gap, it is necessary to translate the updated surface EMG applications and technological advances into clinical research. Therefore, we aimed to present a perspective on recent developments in the application of surface EMG and signal processing methods. ⋯ Translating innovations in surface EMG and signal analysis methods into routine clinical applications can be a helpful tool with a growing and valuable role in muscle activation measurement in clinical practices. Thus, researchers must build many more interfaces that give opportunities for continuing education and research with more contemporary techniques and devices.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study
Comparison of the effectiveness of instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization and extracorporeal shock wave therapy in myofascial pain syndrome.
To compare the effectiveness of instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM) and extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) used in myofascial pain syndrome (MPS) and to determine whether they are superior to conservative treatment (CT). ⋯ All 3 of these treatments can be used to alleviate the negative effects of MPS. IASTM treatment can be preferred primarily in the creation of combined treatment programs for patients with ROM limitations and low PPTs.
