Case ReportsIntraoperative positioning during cesarean as a cause of sciatic neuropathy.
Sciatic nerve compression has been well documented as a cause of perioperative sciatic neuropathy but rarely during cesarean. ⋯ Elevating the right buttock during cesarean can cause compression of the underlying structures of the left buttock and result in sciatic neuropathy. Decreasing the duration of time the patient is in the left lateral position may reduce the risk of this uncommon but debilitating complication.

Case ReportsPostherpetic neuralgia after shingles: an under-recognized cause of chronic vulvar pain.
Vulvar shingles, an uncommon presentation of a common disease, probably affects 1.5 million American women during their lifetime and leaves about 150,000 with postherpetic neuralgia, a chronic neuropathic pain syndrome. Prompt diagnosis and treatment can minimize pain severity and duration. ⋯ Shingles needs to be included in the differential diagnosis of vulvar rashes because it is a modifiable risk factor for chronic vulvar pain. The possibility of postherpetic neuralgia must be considered in women with unexplained vulvar dysesthesia.

Obstetricians' opinions regarding patient choice in cesarean delivery.
To survey the opinions of Israeli obstetricians regarding their position on patient choice cesarean delivery. ⋯ Although the vast majority (91%) of the Israeli respondents personally prefer vaginal delivery, almost half of them support women's autonomy to choose cesarean delivery. Consequently, approximately 50% of the respondents were willing to perform cesarean delivery on request because of their support of women's autonomy, despite the fact that they believe that vaginal delivery is a better option.
