Comparative StudyReliability of laparoscopic compared with hysteroscopic sterilization at 1 year: a decision analysis.
To estimate the probability of successful sterilization after an hysteroscopic or laparoscopic sterilization procedure. ⋯ Women choosing laparoscopic sterilization are more likely than those choosing hysteroscopic sterilization to have a successful sterilization procedure within 1 year. However, the risk of failed sterilization and subsequent pregnancy must be considered when choosing a method of sterilization.

Multicenter StudyProstaglandin E2 analogue sulprostone for treatment of atonic postpartum hemorrhage.
Use of prostaglandins, including sulprostone (an E2 analog), is recommended for second-line uterotonic treatment of atonic postpartum hemorrhage and might be considered as an indicator of quality of care in severe atonic postpartum hemorrhage management. Our objective was to estimate whether sulprostone was appropriately used and how it was tolerated in women with atonic postpartum hemorrhage. ⋯ : III.

Case ReportsSuccessful treatment of severe sepsis with recombinant activated protein C during the third trimester of pregnancy.
Severe sepsis in pregnancy is associated with multiorgan failure and a high risk of death for the mother and fetus. ⋯ This report describes a case of severe sepsis at 26 weeks of gestation secondary to pneumonia, with successful maternal and fetal outcome after use of drotrecogin alfa (activated).

Case ReportsConcurrent postpartum uterine and abdominal wall dehiscence and Streptococcus anginosus infection.
Postpartum uterine scar dehiscence is a rare but potentially lethal complication of cesarean deliveries. ⋯ Uterine scar separation needs to be considered in patients with a fascial dehiscence after cesarean delivery for arrest of labor. Selected cases can be managed conservatively (uterine reclosure), but patients should be counseled about the possible need for hysterectomy at the time of relaparotomy.
