Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study Clinical Trial
Comparative study between computer assisted-navigation and conventional technique in minimally invasive surgery total knee arthroplasty, prospective control study.
Both Minimally Invasive surgery (MIS) and Computer-Assisted Surgery (CAS) are useful in Total Knee Arthroplasty (TKA). Minimally invasive total knee arthroplasty was associated with decreased blood loss, shorter hospital stays, and increased range of motion. Computer-assisted surgery in total knee arthroplasty was developed to improve the positioning of implants during surgery. ⋯ The use of navigation in total knee arthroplasty increases accuracy in limb and implants alignment, and does not increase complications and surgical times.

Multicenter Study Clinical Trial
The Thai Anesthesia Incident Monitoring Study (Thai AIMS) of desaturation: an analysis of 1,996 incident reports.
The present study is a part of the Multicentered Study of Model of Anesthesia related Adverse Events in Thailand by Incident Report (The Thai Anesthesia Incident Monitoring Study or Thai AIMS). The objective of the present study was to determine the frequency distribution, outcomes, contributory factors, and factors minimizing incident. ⋯ To lower the incidence of oxygen desaturation, the anesthesia personnel has to improve the anesthesia services by quality assurance activity, improvement of supervision, clinical practice guidelines, and additional training.

Randomized Controlled Trial Clinical Trial
Effect of oral pilocarpine on post-irradiation xerostomia in head and neck cancer patients: a single-center, single-blind clinical trial.
The authors determined the efficacy and safety of oral pilocarpine tablet in symptomatic relief of post-radiation xerostomia in head and neck cancer patients. ⋯ Oral pilocarpine was effective and well tolerated in the treatment of radiation-induced xerostomia symptoms.

To perform a serial assessment and compare ability in predicting the intensive care unit (ICU) mortality of the multiple organ dysfunction score (MODS), sequential organ failure assessment (SOFA) and logistic organ dysfunction (LOD) score. ⋯ Serial assessment of organ dysfunction during the ICU stay is reliable with ICU mortality. The maximum scores is the best discrimination comparable with APACHE II score in predicting ICU mortality.

To demonstrate the surgical technique and advantages of the mini-open transforaminal approach for lumbar interbody fusion (TLIF) combined with transpedicular screw fixation. Clinical and radiographic results were assessed to determine the clinical outcomes in twelve consecutive patients selected for minimally invasive access (mini-open technique) for TLIF in Prasat Neurological Institute. ⋯ The use of mini-open technique for pedicle screw instrumentation with spinal fusion procedure provides excellent clinical results and may be an operation of choice for lumbar spinal fusion in selected patients.
