Comparative Study
[A comparison of vertical infraclavicular and coracoid approaches in forearm surgery].
Despite several risks, infraclavicular approaches to the brachial plexus gained popularity. The present study compared success rates, block onset times, block performance times, and frequency of adverse effects of vertical infraclavicular (VIB) and coracoid blocks (CB) in patients undergoing forearm surgery. ⋯ Coracapid block provided higher rates of sensorial and motor blocks in a similar onset time without serious complications. CB can be accepted as a safe and reliable alternative to VIB for forearm surgery.

Spinal anesthesia for elective cesarean section is associated with shorter hospital stay compared to general anesthesia.
This prospective study aims to compare maternal and neonatal effects of spinal and general anesthesia for elective cesarean section. ⋯ Spinal anesthesia, when compared to general anesthesia shortens postoperative hospital stay with early return of gastrointestinal functions in elective cesarean section.

Randomized Controlled Trial
[The comparison of epidural continuous infusion and epidural patient controlled bolus administration in labor analgesia].
We aimed to compare the efficacies of patient controlled bolus administration and continuous infusion of low dose Fentanyl and Levobupivacaine combination by epidural catheter during vaginal labor on mother, baby and the duration of labor. ⋯ Bolus administration of a basal dose that will keep the analgesia level constant and additional drugs administered upon patient requests will prevent pregnant women from experiencing a painful period, and will provide confidence and comfort to patients who need to ask for drugs according to their pain characteristics.

Randomized Controlled Trial
[A comparison of the effects of intraoperative tramadol and ketamine usage for postoperative pain relief in patients undergoing tonsillectomy].
We aimed to compare the effects of ketamine and tramadol administered intraoperatively on postoperative pain and analgesic demand in children undergoing tonsillectomy operations. ⋯ Postoperative pain was effectively managed using 2 mg.kg-1 tramadol and 0.5 mg.kg-1 ketamine in pediatric tonsillectomies.

Combined nerve blocks of the upper extremity and lower limb in same operation rarely performed due to the risk of systemic toxicity of local anesthetics. Therefore, general anesthesia is generally preferred in this operations. ⋯ The block was successful and no block-related complications were noted. We think that combining an ultrasound guided infraclavicular brachial plexus block and a lateral femoral cutaneous nerve block is a clinically useful and safe technique and an alternative anesthetic method for procedures requiring skin grafts for the upper extremity.
