We aimed to compare the intraoperative and post-operative analgesic activities of the preventive applied serratus anterior plane (SAP) block and infiltration block in patients undergoing video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS). ⋯ As a result, more effective post-operative analgesia was provided with preventively SAPB, compared to infiltration block in patients undergoing VATS.

Epidural anesthesia and thoracic paravertebral blocks have been the mainstay of regional anesthesia for thoracic surgery for many years. Following introduction of ultrasound use during regional anesthesia practices, new blocks named interfascial plane blocks have been introduced into clinical practice. Although interfascial plane blocks fail to provide surgical anesthesia their contribution to providing analgesia is clinically important. In this review we mention the most commonly accepted blocks namely pectoral blocks, serratus anterior plane block, erector spinae plane block and rhomboid blocks.

Infraclavicular block provides adequate anesthesia to the arm, forearm, and antecubital region. There are many different approaches to infraclavicular brachial plexus block. Corocoid approach which is mostly preferred is not appropriate in some cases that needle orientation disappear. ⋯ The needle insertion point was posterior to the clavicle and the needle was advanced from cephalad to caudal. The block was effectuated after median nerve stimulation as the needle was advanced toward posterior of axillar artery. In our case with excess weight and life-threatening disease, it is highly reliable to perform infraclavicular block with retroclavicular approach indicated spread of local anesthetic, needle tip, and orientation without damage to nerve and vascular structures under ultrasound-guided.

Osteonecrosis or avascular necrosis of the femoral head is a pathologic process due to inadequate blood supply resulting the death of the cells in bone tissue and collaps of joint. Avascular necrosis is a progressive disease mainly affecting adults in middle age and leads substantial loss of joint function. ⋯ Therefore several causes of osteonecrosis schould be well-known, little is known about pregnancy as an etiological factor for femoral head. We present a case of a 30-year-old female with bilateral avascular necrosis of the femoral head that developed during the peripartum period.

The primary objective of this study was to investigate the effects of Pulsed RF application in the genicular nerve on pain and function in patients with osteoarthritis (OA) and its side effects. ⋯ Our findings suggest that Pulsed RF neurotomy of the genicular nerves is an efficient and safe treatment method for patients with chronic knee osteoarthritis.
