[An anatomic study of lag screw placement in anterior column of acetabulum and design of targeting device].
To provide the anatomic basis for the lag screw placement in the anterior column of the acetabulum. ⋯ The above data can facilitate an insertion of one 6.5 mm lag screw into the anterior acetabular column and minimize the risk of articular violation or cortical penetration, which has a narrow margin of safety. The safe length of the lag screw should be 70 mm. The optimal entry point on the posterolateral ilium for the screw fixation is determined to be 10 mm superior to the line between the anterior superior iliac spine and the greater sciatic notch and 40 mm superior to the greater sciatic notch. The inclination of the lag screw should be 55 degrees at the caudal direction in the sagittal plane and 40 degrees in the horizontal plane. It is safe to place the lag screw in the anterior column with the help of the targeting device.

[Influence of body mass index and age on deep vein thrombosis after total hip and knee arthroplasty].
To analyze the influence of the body mass index (BMI) and age on deep vein thrombosis (DVT) after the total hip arthroplasty (THA) or total knee arthroplasty(TKA) in Chinese patients who received prophylactic treatment for DVT. ⋯ Obesity (BMI> 25 kg/m2) and an increasing age (>40 yr) are identified as statistically significant risk factors for DVT after THA or TKA, and patients aged 61-70 years are more likely to have DVT than the other patients. We should pay more attention to those obesity and aged patients when they are undergoing the total joint replacement, and we should give them enough prophylaxis and closely observe the symptoms in their bilateral lower extremities after operation, taking ultrasonography or venography to check DVT if necessary, so that we can give them prompt treatment and prevent fatal pulmonary thromboembolism.

[Early clinical outcome of total knee arthroplasty for flexion-contracture deformity knees of different degrees].
To make a retrospective analysis on an early clinical outcome of total knee arthroplasty (TKA) for the knees with different degrees of flexion-contracture deformities. ⋯ The curative effect is mainly determined by the surgeon's good operational skills, rich clinical experience, and familiarity with the prosthesis, and it is not influenced by severity of the knee flexion-contracture deformity. The knee ROM after TKA, which has a "toward middle ROM" phenomenon, is influenced by many clinical factors. It is very important for the patient to perform a functional exercise of the knee as early as possible after operation.

[Post-anesthetic autologous blood donation used in knee and hip arthroplasty].
To explore the clinical application of the postanesthetic autologous donation and the postoperative transfusion during the knee and hip replacement surgeries. ⋯ Postoperative blood transfusion following the postanesthetic and preoperative autologous donation can be successfully applied to most of the patients undergoing the knee or hip replacement so as to reduce complications of the allogeneic blood transfusion.
