CD74 and macrophage migration inhibitory factor as therapeutic targets in gastric cancer.
To investigate the relationship and molecular features of CD74/macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF)/Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) in gastric cancer. ⋯ Upregulation of MIF, CD74 and TLR4 are associated with increasing clinical stage and provide an opportunity as novel gastric cancer chemoprevention and/or treatment strategy.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyEfficacy and safety profile of LCR35 complete freeze-dried culture in irritable bowel syndrome: a randomized, double-blind study.
To assess the effects and safety of Lactobacillus casei rhamnosus LCR35 complete freeze-dried culture (LCR35) in patients suffering from irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). ⋯ This pilot study suggests that LCR35 could have some efficacy in IBS patients complaining of diarrhoea. These preliminary results need to be confirmed in larger studies.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyA prospective randomized trial of transnasal ileus tube vs nasogastric tube for adhesive small bowel obstruction.
To study the therapeutic efficacy of a new transnasal ileus tube advanced endoscopically for adhesive small bowel obstruction. ⋯ Ileus tube can be used for adhesive small bowel obstruction. Endoscopic placement of the ileus tube is convenient and worthy to be promoted despite the potential risks.

Meta AnalysisLaparoscopic distal pancreatectomy is as safe and feasible as open procedure: a meta-analysis.
To evaluate the feasibility and safety of laparoscopic distal pancreatectomy (LDP) compared with open distal pancreatectomy (ODP). ⋯ LDP has the advantages of shorter hospital stay and operative time, more rapid recovery and higher spleen-preserving rate as compared with ODP.

Case ReportsParoxysmal drastic abdominal pain with tardive cutaneous lesions presenting in Henoch-Schönlein purpura.
Henoch-Schönlein purpura (HSP) is a small-vessel vasculitis mediated by IgA-immune complex deposition. It is characterized by the clinical tetrad of non-thrombocytopenic palpable purpura, abdominal pain, arthritis and renal involvement. ⋯ We report a rare case of paroxysmal drastic abdominal pain with gastrointestinal bleeding presented in HSP. The diagnosis was verified by renal damage and the occurrence of purpura.
