[Assessment values of procalcitonin, lactic acid, and disease severity scores in patients with sepsis].
To investigate the assessment values of procalcitonin (PCT), lactic acid (LAC), sequential organ failure assessment (SOFA) score and acute physiology and chronic health evaluation II (APACHE II) score in patients with sepsis. ⋯ PCT, LAC, SOFA score and APACHE II score were reliable indexes to evaluate disease severity for patients diagnosed with infection. The assessment values of APACHE II score and LAC in 28-day mortality were superior to SOFA score and PCT.

[Minimum quality threshold in pre-clinical sepsis studies (MQTiPSS): an international expert consensus initiative for improvement of animal modeling in sepsis].
Preclinical animal studies precede the majority of clinical trials. While the clinical definitions of sepsis and recommended treatments are regularly updated, a systematic review of preclinical models of sepsis has not been done and clear modeling guidelines are lacking. To address this deficit, a Wiggers-Bernard Conference on preclinical sepsis modeling was held in Vienna in May, 2017. ⋯ These guideline points are proposed as "best practices" for animal models of sepsis that should be implemented. To encourage its wide dissemination, this article is freely accessible on the Intensive Care Medicine Experimental and Infection journal websites. In order to encourage its wide dissemination, this article is freely accessible in Shock, Infection, and Intensive Care Medicine Experimental.

Meta Analysis[Effect of vitamin C on prognosis of critically ill patients: a Meta-analysis].
To systematically evaluate the effect of vitamin C on prognosis of critically ill patients. ⋯ Vitamin C does not reduce mortality in critically ill patients, but it can reduce the length of ICU stay and hospital stay. In addition, vitamin C can reduce mortality of patients with sepsis and septic shock and reduce the incidence of atrial fibrillation post operation in patients undergoing cardiac surgery.

[Clinical study on the early predictive value of renal resistive index in acute kidney injury associated with severe acute pancreatitis].
To investigate the value of renal resistive index (RRI) in early predictor and discriminator of severe acute pancreatitis (SAP)-related acute kidney injury (AKI). ⋯ High RRI on ICU admission was a significant predictor for development of severe AKI during the first week, and RRI can help predict the tendency of AKI in SAP.

[Diagnosis accuracy of quick sequential organ failure assessment score for adult sepsis patient with soft tissue infection].
To assess the diagnosis accuracy of the quick sequential organ failure assessment (qSOFA) score for adult sepsis patient with soft tissue infection, and to assess the prognostic accuracy of the qSOFA score for septic shock. ⋯ qSOFA ≥ 2 can be used as a rapid sepsis screening tool for adult patients with soft tissue infection. It is suggested that qSOFA or SIRS scores can be used to predict septic shock of adult patients with soft tissue infection initially.
