Comparative StudyEmpathy and burnout among physicians of different specialities.
The aim of this study was to assess the level of empathy and burnout among physicians of different specialization, as well as to determine whether a correlation existed between the level of empathy and burnout. ⋯ Concluding, medical specialists have a significantly higher level of empathy than surgeons and family physicians. It is imperative to remember that increasing depersonalization and emotional exhaustion can have a negative impact on empathy.

Determination of hepatocyte growth factor at early phase of acute pancreatitis.
The aim of this study was to assess the diagnostic value of hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) as a new predictor of severity in patients with acute pancreatitis (AP) at early phase of disease. ⋯ Serum HGF correlates with several inflammatory markers and clinical scores (Glasgow, Imrie) in patients with AP and may be considered a new promising tool in assessing the severity of acute pancreatitis.
