The management of pain at home has developed considerably over the last ten years with the arrival of patient-controlled analgesia pumps. Connected to the internet, some of these medical devices give nurses real-time access to the pump's data and history. This offers greater reactivity in adjusting the prescription and helping to improve pain management.

[The discharge coordinator nurse, the missing link in emergency departments].
The organisation of the discharge of patients from emergency departments is time-consuming and a source of stress. At Limoges general hospital, in order to improve the conditions in which patients are managed and to relieve some of the work of other professionals, a post of discharge coordinator nurse was created and has significantly reduced the malfunctions within the department.

The emergency doctor, faced with a patient receiving palliative care, must adapt treatment and care approach in a well-proportioned way. He assesses the situation, finding out about the care approach put in place and questioning the patient, his or her family and the caregivers, in order to avoid unreasonable obstinacy and to provide the most appropriate treatment.
