Randomized Controlled Trial[Intensive insulin therapy in critically ill patients].
To observe the effect of intensive insulin therapy on improving the condition of critically ill patients. ⋯ Intensive insulin therapy maintaining blood glucose at a level 4.4-6.1 mmol/L reduces mortality rate among critically ill patients.

Practice Guideline[Guidelines for management of acute lung injury/acute respiratory distress syndrome: an evidence-based update by the Chinese Society of Critical Care Medicine (2006)].
In 2006, Chinese critical care experts drafted management guidelines for diagnosis and therapy of acute lung injury (ALI)/acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), that would be of practical use for the clinician, and this effort may serve to increase nationwide awareness and to improve the treatment result of ALI/ARDS. ⋯ Evidence-based recommendations can be made regarding many aspects of the acute management of ALI/ARDS that will hopefully translate into improved outcomes for the critically ill patient. The guidelines will be updated when some important new knowledge becomes available.

Comparative Study[Comparison of acute physiology and chronic health evaluation II, simplified acute physiology score II and Logistic organ dysfunction system on predicting outcome of critically ill patients in intensive care unit].
To compare and evaluate the prognostic value of three prognostic systems namely acute physiology and chronic health evaluation II(APACHEII), simplified acute physiology score II(SAPSII), and Logistic organ dysfunction system (LODS),to predict mortality rate in intensive care unit (ICU). ⋯ The prognostic value of discrimination for APACHEII, SAPSII and LODS is good and basically equivalent, but calibration of acuity of APACHEII and SAPSII is much better than that of LODS.

[Analysis of related factors of 48 non-survivors transferred or re-admitted to intensive care unit].
To analyze the factors which influence the mortality of patients transferred or re-admitted to intensive care unit (ICU), and investigate the method to decrease mortality of patients in ICU. ⋯ It is important to emphasize to monitor the circulation or respiration and early intervention of critical patients, to improve the clinical evaluation of the patients discharged from ICU, in order to decrease the mortality of patients re-admitted to ICU.
