Comparative StudySmoking ban in public places and myocardial infarction hospitalizations in a European country with high cardiovascular risk: insights from the Polish nationwide AMI-PL database.
Previous studies demonstrated a possible positive effect of a smoking ban in public places on cardiovascular outcomes. However, little is known about the influence of such regulations in Poland, a country with a high cardiovascular risk. ⋯ After the introduction of the smoking ban, a marked decrease in age‑standardized AMI hospitalizations was observed in long‑term follow‑up both in men and women as well as both in younger and older patients, but with differences regarding the place of residence.

Percutaneous management of long and diffused coronary lesions using newer generation drug-eluting stents in routine clinical practice: long-term outcomes and complication predictors.
Long and diffuse coronary lesions (LDCLs) are routinely subjected to percutaneous management, but long‑term clinical outcomes and complication predictors with the use of contemporary stents and techniques remain undetermined. ⋯ Adverse outcomes following contemporary LDCL management using newer generation DESs in routine clinical practice are associated with clinical patient characteristics rather than lesion characteristics or TSL. We identified high‑risk patient cohorts that may benefit from enhanced surveillance.
