Biologic treatment of inflammatory bowel disease in Poland, 2012-2020: nationwide data.
The frequency of biologic drug treatment for Polish patients diagnosed with ulcerative colitis (UC) or Crohn disease (CD) has been insufficiently studied. ⋯ We showed a growing use of biologic agents in the treatment of IBD in Poland. Womenreceive biologic treatment for IBD significantly less frequently than men. The pediatric population features the highest proportion of patients receiving such treatment.

Observational StudyEffectiveness of COPD treatment with the combination of tiotropium/olodaterol in Polish standard clinical practice as measured by the improvement of CCQ: an observational study.
Health‑related quality of life in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) can be measured by the Clinical COPD Questionnaire (CCQ). In this study, the CCQ was used to assess the therapeutic success of a fixed‑dose tiotropium / olodaterol combination treatment in Polish COPD patients. ⋯ Tiotropium / olodaterol treatment improved clinical control in Polish COPD patients. Therapeutic success was the most pronounced in individuals with more severe COPD and in the treatment‑naïve group but occurred also in those with moderate disease and in previously treated participants.

Cardiac biomarkers on admission and in-hospital mortality in COVID-19 patients with or without concomitant heart failure.
High‑sensitivity cardiac troponin T (hs-cTnT) and N-terminal pro-B type natriuretic peptide (NT‑ proBNP) are known markers of cardiac injury. However, their role in predicting the severity of COVID‑19 remains to be investigated. ⋯ The level of hs‑cTnT or NT-proBNP predicts in hospital mortality in COVID-19 patients. Both hs‑cTnT and NT-proBNP should be routinely measured on admission in all patients hospitalized due to COVID‑19 for early detection of individuals with an increased risk of in hospital death, even if they do not have concomitant heart failure.

Adherence to prophylactic treatment in adult patients with severe hemophilia in Poland.
Patient adherence to a prophylactic regimen is important for optimal benefit of hemophilia treatment. Despite a growing number of adults with hemophilia in Poland receiving secondary prophylaxis, data on adherence to the regimen are limited. ⋯ Our results show a high rate of adherence to hemophilia prophylaxis by Polish adults. Problems with the management of clotting factor stocks and remembering about the injection of the clotting factor were identified as potential barriers to adherence in adults with hemophilia in Poland.
