Mortality and major postoperative complications within one year after vascular surgery: a prospective cohort study.
Patients undergoing vascular procedures are prone to developing postoperative complications affecting their short‑term mortality. Prospective reports describing the incidence of long‑term complications after vascular surgery are lacking. ⋯ The incidence of major postoperative complications after vascular surgery is high. The occurrence of MINS is associated with a nearly 3‑fold increase in 1‑year mortality.

Echocardiographic predictors of left ventricular remodeling in patients after a history of active myocarditis.
Myocarditis may be difficult to diagnose because of the variety of its clinical manifestations, and the clinical course of the disease can be unpredictable. Nevertheless, some patients may exhibit partial or full contractile recovery following myocarditis. Standard and speckle-tracking echocardiography may serve as tools to follow this recovery. ⋯ Mechanical dispersion, QRS duration, and MRA use are independent predictors of positive LV remodeling in individuals with a history of AM.
