Multicenter StudyEffects of cardiac rehabilitation on risk factor management and quality of life in patients with ischemic heart disease: A multicenter cross-sectional study.
While cardiac rehabilitation (CR) improves survival outcomes in patients with ischemic heart disease (IHD), the long‑ term benefits of short term programs are still discussed. ⋯ Cardiac rehabilitation is moderately effective if performed only once and without a continuous support program. Further efforts to increase referrals for CR in patients with IHD must be accompanied by a long‑ term strategy to sustain the beneficial effects.

Tuberculosis is frequently omitted in the diagnostic workup and may be identified accidentally following thoracic surgeries, mostly those targeting lung cancer. ⋯ The majority of the study patients presented with radiological findings encountered in tuberculosis, which should have led to a less invasive diagnostic workup. This highlights the role of radiologists in the identification of the disease.

Does weight loss after laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy contribute to reduction in blood pressure?
Obesity‑related hypertension is a life threatening medical condition that significantly increases the risk of cardiovascular diseases and premature mortality. Effective treatment of obesity may be achieved by laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG). This surgical method contributes not only to sustained weight loss but also to normalization of blood pressure. ⋯ Laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy is an effective method for the treatment of obesity‑ related hypertension. However, weight loss induced by LSG does not affect the blood pressure status after the surgery.
