Antibodies involved in the development of pernicious anemia and other autoimmune diseases.
Pernicious anemia (PA) is an autoimmune hematopoietic disease. ⋯ Simultaneous determination of IF and GPC antibodies increases the chances of confirming the diagnosis of PA. Also, screening for connective tissue diseases and celiac disease may be considered in patients with PA, due to the presence of ANAs and EmAs in that population.

Effect of air pollution on the number of hospital admissions for acute coronary syndrome in elderly patients.
Air pollution is a documented risk factor for cardiovascular diseases. ⋯ Increased exposure to air pollution, in particular, elevated PM10 levels, is associated with a higher incidence of ACS both on the day of exposure and over the following days.

Sex-dependent differences in clinical characteristics and in-hospital outcomes in patients with takotsubo syndrome.
Takotsubo syndrome (TTS) is an acute reversible left ventricular dysfunction, which occurs mainly in postmenopausal women. ⋯ Differences occurred in the clinical course of TTS between men and women. However, in‑hospital outcomes were similar in both groups.
