Contrast enhancement of central nervous system lesions: multicenter intraindividual crossover comparative study of two MR contrast agents.
To prospectively compare gadobenate dimeglumine with gadopentetate dimeglumine (0.1 mmol per kilogram body weight) for enhanced magnetic resonance (MR) imaging of central nervous system (CNS) lesions. ⋯ Gadobenate compared with gadopentetate at an equivalent dose provides significantly better enhancement and diagnostic information for CNS MR imaging.

To retrospectively assess virtual autopsy performed with multidetector computed tomography (CT) for the forensic evaluation of gunshot wound victims. ⋯ Multidetector CT can aid prediction of lethal wounds and location of metallic fragments.

To evaluate the development and histologic features of jugular vein catheter-related (fibrin) sheaths in a swine model. ⋯ The sheath that develops around central venous catheters in the swine model consists of cellular and noncellular components. A substantial proportion of the sheath is made up of a smooth muscle cell and collagen layer with overlying endothelial cells.

To review retrospectively the magnetic resonance (MR) imaging findings and clinical information of patients with Parsonage-Turner syndrome (PTS). ⋯ The suprascapular nerve was almost invariably involved (in 97% of shoulders) in patients with PTS. Axillary nerve involvement also was commonly observed (in 50% of shoulders). Subscapular nerve involvement was uncommon (in 3% of shoulders).

Focal liver lesions: SPIO-, gadolinium-, and ferucarbotran-enhanced dynamic T1-weighted and delayed T2-weighted MR imaging in rabbits.
To compare a superparamagnetic iron oxide (SPIO), VSOP-C184, with a gadopentetate dimeglumine with regard to signal-enhancing effects on T1-weighted dynamic magnetic resonance (MR) images and with another SPIO contrast medium with regard to signal-reducing effects on delayed T2-weighted MR images. ⋯ VSOP-C184 produces higher liver-to-tumor contrast at dynamic T1-weighted imaging than does gadopentetate dimeglumine; at delayed T2-weighted imaging, the contrast is comparable to that achieved with ferucarbotran.
