Swine-origine H1N1 influenza virus (S-OIV) caused a great mobilization of health medical service over the world. Now it is well known that a vaccine against novel virus is expected as a key point in that battle. In the situation when recommended treatment with neuraminidase inhibitors is not sufficient to control influenza A/H1N1 viral infection the quick and precisely diagnostic procedures should be applied to save and protect our patients.

Accumulating data indicate that oxidative stress (OS) plays a major role in the pathogenesis of multiple sclerosis (MS). Reactive oxygen species (ROS), leading to OS, generated in excess primarily by macrophages, have been implicated as mediators of demyelization and axonal damage in MS. ROS cause damage to main cellular components such as lipids, proteins and nucleic acids (e.g., RNA, DNA), resulting in cell death by necrosis or apoptosis. ⋯ Its refer both enzymatic antioxidants: catalase, glutathione peroxidase, glutathione reductase, superoxide dismutase and nonenzymatic antioxidants glutathione, vitamins A,C,D, coenzym Q, uric acid etc. Enzymatic and non enzymatic antioxidants like vitamins, micro and macro elements could regulate progress and function different immunologic cells. Modulation of immunologic processes by this components could be an effective method in decreased risk of incidence of disease and(or) treatment of MS or other immunologic diseases.

[Strategy for secure hemostasis in hemophilia patients undergoing surgery for malignant neoplasms].
Surgery for malignant neoplasms in hemophilia patients is no different from standard procedures in the general population on condition that the normal hemostatic activity of deficient factors: VIII in hemophilia A and IX in hemophilia B in perioperative period is ensured. The aim of the study was to determine the type and frequency of malignant neoplasms in hemophilia patients as well as to provide a strategy for establishing safe hemostatic activity in surgically treated hemophilia patients. ⋯ Surgery of malignant neoplasms in hemophilia patients is burdened with a high risk of complications which include bleedings despite adequate replacement therapy and administration of factor eight by-passing concentrates in patients with high titre inhibitor. Therefore surgical procedures involving these patients should be performed in specialized centers with experienced team (surgeon, anaesthesiologist, haematologist) and supported by a laboratory for coagulation disorders.

[Laparoscopic cholecystectomy with single incision laparoscopic surgery].
For the last seventeen years laparoscopic cholecystectomy has remained the gold standard procedure for gallbladder surgery The single incision laparoscopic surgery (SILS) approach is a step toward less invasive surgery and the intraumbilical access improves the cosmetic effect (no scar surgery). The aim of the study was to present our preliminary experience in laparoscopic cholecystectomy through single intraumbilical incision. ⋯ Single-incision laparoscopic cholecystectomy should be performed by experienced laparoscopic surgeons. For adequate evaluation of the efficacy and safety of this procedure it is necessary to perform further clinical studies on a larger number of patients.

[Evaluation of patients with polytrauma treated in the emergency department].
Polytrauma care is a very important diagnostic and therapeutic problem. The clinical profile of patients with multiorgan injuries admitted to the emergency department (ED) is different, similarly to severity of injuries. ⋯ Multiorgan injuries were diagnosed mainly in young men after traffic accidents in the morning. Head injuries, chest injuries and fractures were the most frequent. Author propose the diagnostic and therapeutic algorithm for initial management in ED in patients with multiply injuries.
