[Spectrophotometric evaluation of nitrous oxide pollution in the work place of the anesthesiologic personnel in operating rooms].
Chronic exposure to nitrous oxide and volatile anaesthetics can threat the health of the operation theatre personnel. In Poland there are no regulations determining the maximum concentration of anaesthetic gases in the air. The results of measurement of N2O pollution of theatre atmosphere presented in the article exceed European and North American standards. ⋯ It is important to enforce European law and standards of work safety in operation rooms. It is of double impact, health protecting and ecological. The authors suggest introducing activities aiming toward the improvement of work conditions in operation rooms and the reduction of uncontrolled release of harmful anaesthetics.

Review[Pathogenic and clinical significance of Helicobacter pylori infection in chronic urticaria and angioedema].
Urticaria and angioedema are one of the most frequent skin diseases, nevertheless no etiologic factors have been found in a large number of cases. This review summarizes the available medical literature from Medline regarding Helicobacter pylori and mentioned disease. ⋯ However there are several papers, which support lack of relationship between H. pylori infection and the course of urticaria and angioedema. Thus we need further randomized, double-blind and placebo controlled studies including adequate diagnostic schedules, sufficient eradication treatment protocols, confirmation of eradication, and adequate control groups to establish a role of H. pylori in urticaria and angioedema.

Fournier's gangrene is a necrotizing fasciitis of the genital and scrotal region due to infectious process. The gangrene is rare. Most cases are diagnosed in elderly patients with immunodeficiency, especially in diabetics or alcoholics. ⋯ The development and progression of the gangrene is often fulminating and can rapidly cause multiple organ failure and death. Early surgical debridement of necrotic tissues and antibiotics are fundamental in the treatment of Fournier's gangrene. Despite of advanced management mortality is still high and averages 20-30%.

Randomized Controlled Trial Clinical Trial[Evaluation of the usefulness and effectiveness of anxiolytic therapies in neoplastic diseases].
Anxiety accompanies patients at all stages of severe somatic diseases as well in the course of diagnostic procedures. It affects significantly quality of life of these patients and their relations with their physicians. It may also induce or exacerbate wide range of somatic complaints. ⋯ Alprazolam effectively reduced anxiety in patients suffering from malignant diseases. Alprazolam was found to reduce depressive symptoms in patients with neurotic disorders whereas no effects of this kind were observed for diazepam.
