Dexmedetomidine alleviates lung ischemia-reperfusion injury in rats by activating PI3K/Akt pathway.
This research aims to investigate the role and mechanism of PI3K/Akt pathway in the pathological process of lung ischemia-reperfusion injury in dexmedetomidine-treated rats. ⋯ Rat lung ischemia-reperfusion can induce severe lung injury. Dexmedetomidine treatment can attenuate lung ischemia-reperfusion injury by activating the PI3K/Akt signaling pathway at the transcriptional level.

Comparative StudyEffects of sevoflurane inhalation anesthesia on cognitive and immune function in elderly patients after abdominal operation.
To observe the effects of sevoflurane inhalation anesthesia on cognitive and immune function in elderly patients after abdominal operation. ⋯ Applying sevoflurane as an anesthetic for abdominal operation in elderly patients is a more effective method for alleviating perioperative cognitive dysfunction and improving immune function inhibition in elderly patients, so it is worthy of clinical promotion.

Circular RNA ciRS-7 correlates with advance disease and poor prognosis, and its down-regulation inhibits cells proliferation while induces cells apoptosis in non-small cell lung cancer.
This study aimed to assess the association of circular RNA (circRNA) ciRS-7 expression with clinicopathological characteristics and prognosis of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients, and to investigate its effect on cells proliferation as well as apoptosis in NSCLC. ⋯ CircRNA ciRS-7 overexpression is associated with advanced disease and poor prognosis in NSCLC patients, and the down-regulation of circRNA ciRS-7 inhibits tumor cells proliferation as well as improves cells apoptosis.

Elevated PHD2 expression might serve as a valuable biomarker of poor prognosis in lung adenocarcinoma, but no lung squamous cell carcinoma.
Using data from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA), we aimed to explore the association between Egl nine homolog 1 (EGLN1/PHD2) expression and survival outcomes in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) and lung squamous cell carcinoma (LUSC), respectively. ⋯ Elevated PHD2 expression might only serve as a valuable biomarker of poor prognosis in LUAD, but no in LUSC. Cg07040244 and cg21875980 might be two CpG sites modulating PHD2 expression in LUAD.

Increased expression of lncRNA FTH1P3 promotes oral squamous cell carcinoma cells migration and invasion by enhancing PI3K/Akt/GSK3b/ Wnt/β-catenin signaling.
Growing evidence indicated that long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) played important roles in tumor initiation and progression. In this study, we aimed to investigate the expression pattern, clinical significance, and biological function of lncRNA ferritin heavy chain 1 pseudogene 3 (FTH1P3) in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). ⋯ We demonstrated that FTH1P3 acted as a tumor promoter by regulating PI3K/Akt/GSK3β/Wnt/β-catenin signaling and could represent a novel prognostic marker in OSCC patients.
