Randomized Controlled TrialRandomized clinical trial "olfactory dysfunction after COVID-19: olfactory rehabilitation therapy vs. intervention treatment with Palmitoylethanolamide and Luteolin": preliminary results.
Approximately 30% of patients with confirmed COVID-19 report persistent smell or taste disorders as long-term sequalae of infection. Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection is associated with inflammatory changes to the olfactory bulb, and treatments with anti-inflammatory properties are hypothesized to attenuate viral injury and promote recovery of olfaction after infection. Our study investigated the efficacy of a supplement with Palmitoylethanolamide (PEA) and Luteolin to support recovery of olfaction in COVID-19 patients. ⋯ Treatment combining olfactory rehabilitation with oral supplementation with PEA and Luteolin was associated with improved recovery of olfactory function, most marked in those patients with longstanding olfactory dysfunction. Further studies are necessary to replicate these findings and to determine whether early intervention including olfactory rehabilitation and PEA+Luteolin oral supplement might prevent SARS-CoV-2 associated olfactory impairment.

Randomized Controlled TrialAnalgesic effect of dezocine in different doses on elderly patients undergoing abdominal operation under general anesthesia and its influence on stress response to postoperative tracheal extubation.
To study the analgesic effect of dezocine in different doses on elderly patients undergoing abdominal operation under general anesthesia and to investigate the influence of dezocine on stress response to postoperative tracheal extubation. ⋯ Dezocine can effectively enhance the analgesic effect on elderly patients receiving abdominal operation under general anesthesia in a dose-dependent manner. Moreover, dezocine can significantly reduce the stress response of elderly patients to postoperative tracheal extubation, and reduce the occurrence rate of adverse complications after abdominal operation under general anesthesia.

Randomized Controlled TrialThe effect of ventilator mask atomization inhalation of ipratropium bromide and budesonide suspension liquid in the treatment of COPD in acute exacerbation period on circulating levels of inflammation and prognosis.
We investigated the effects of ventilator mask atomization inhalation of ipratropium bromide and budesonide suspension liquid in the treatment of acute exacerbation COPD (AECOPD) on circulating levels of inflammatory factors and prognosis. ⋯ The ventilator mask atomizing inhalation of ipratropium bromide and budesonide suspension liquid in the treatment of AECOPD can significantly improve circulating inflammatory reaction, improve lung function and blood gas levels, increase the treatment efficiency, and shorten the treatment time.

Randomized Controlled TrialEffect of early enteral nutrition (EN) on endotoxin in serum and intestinal permeability in patients with severe acute pancreatitis.
This work aimed at studying the effect of early enteral nutrition (EN) on serum endotoxin and intestinal permeability in patients with severe acute pancreatitis. ⋯ Compared with PN, EN has a bigger effect on serum endotoxin and intestinal permeability in patients with severe acute pancreatitis. EN can better promote the elimination of serum endotoxin and reduce intestinal permeability. Therefore, EN deserves clinical expansion.

Randomized Controlled TrialEvaluation of the postoperative cognitive dysfunction in elderly patients with general anesthesia.
The present study is aimed to study the neuron-specific enolase (NSE) and S100b proteins in the evaluation of postoperative cognitive dysfunction in elderly patients with general anesthesia. ⋯ The expression levels of S100b protein and plasma NSE in the serum of POCD patients increased, which indicated the severity of the disease. The preoperative intramuscular injection of scopolamine butylbromide has important clinical significance for the prevention of POCD.
