LncRNA SNHG7 promotes the proliferation and inhibits apoptosis of gastric cancer cells by repressing the P15 and P16 expression.
To investigate the relative expression of long non-coding small nucleolar RNA host gene 7 (lncRNA SNHG7) in gastric cancer tissues and cells, the effect of lncRNA SNHG7 on proliferation and apoptosis of gastric cancer cells in vivo and in vitro experiments, and the relevant mechanism. ⋯ Relative expression of SNHG7 is upregulated in gastric cancer tissues and cells, and partially contributes to the development and progression of gastric cancer through regulation of p15 and p16 expressions. Thus, interference on expression of SNHG7 can provide critical the theoretical basis for inverting the malignant phenotype of gastric cancer in clinical practice.

Effects of remote ischemic preconditioning on myocardial injury and endothelial function and prognosis after percutaneous coronary intervention in patients with acute coronary syndrome.
To explore the effects of remote ischemic preconditioning on myocardial injury and prognosis after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in patients with acute coronary syndrome. ⋯ Remote ischemic preconditioning can reduce PCI related myocardial injury and protect vascular endothelial function.

Laparoscopic pancreaticoduodenectomy for tumors of the head of pancreas; 10 cases for a single center experience.
The tumors of the head of the pancreas are one of the leading causes of cancer-related death in Western countries. The current gold standard for these tumors is a Whipple procedure. This procedure did not change in its surgical steps since when it was initially introduced in 1935. More recently, a laparoscopic approach with similar outcomes has been described. The aim of this paper is to describe the laparoscopic surgical technique performed in our unit, reporting single center postoperative outcomes. ⋯ Laparoscopic pancreaticoduodenectomy is a feasible surgical procedure. Remarkable oncological and surgical outcomes can be achieved with a morbidity and mortality rate in line with the data reported by the large series of open procedures.

MicroRNA-21 functions as an oncogene and promotes cell proliferation and invasion via TIMP3 in renal cancer.
Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) displays an increasing incidence and mortality rate worldwide in recent years. More and more evidence identified microRNAs function as positive or negative regulatory factors in many cancers, but the role of miR-21 in RCC remains unclear. ⋯ Our study demonstrated miR-21 was significantly over-expressed and functioned as a tumor oncogene via TIMP3 in RCC, which could provide a potential target for RCC diagnosis and therapy.

Multicenter StudyEfficacy and safety of 5% lidocaine-medicated plasters in localized pain with neuropathic and/or inflammatory characteristics: an observational, real-world study.
Based on clinical study results, 5% lidocaine-medicated plaster (5% LMP) is currently recommended for the treatment of localized peripheral neuropathic pain, such as post-herpetic neuralgia (PHN). However, its effective action, as well as the high safety, have indeed led to its use in clinical practice for pain conditions with similar pathophysiological mechanisms. In this study, the efficacy and safety of 5% LMP were investigated in patients with localized pain with neuropathic and/or inflammatory characteristics, such as PHN, post-traumatic/surgical or musculoskeletal pain. ⋯ The effectiveness and safety of 5% LMP were shown in localized pain conditions such as neuropathic and, importantly, in musculoskeletal pain, a condition never investigated with this product. This field-practice study suggests that topical pain-reducing strategies such as 5% LMP could be effective in neuropathic and/or inflammatory, localized pain conditions.
