[High mobility group box-1 protein activates endothelial cells to produce cytokines and has synergistic effect with lipopolysaccharide in inducing interleukin-6 release].
To observe the effects of high mobility group box 1 (HMGB1) protein on the release of cytokines of human umbilic vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) and the expression of interleukin-6 (IL-6) induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS). ⋯ HMGB1 activates HUVECs to produce multiple inflammatory cytokines and induces HUVEC to secret IL-6 in a dose- and time-dependent manner. HMGB1 can also act synergistically with LPS in inducing IL-6 release, which may play an important role in the development of sepsis.

[Endovascular stent-graft repair for penetrating atherosclerotic ulcer of the descending aorta].
To summarize the clinical experience and effectiveness of endovascular stent-graft placement for the treatment of penetrating atherosclerotic ulcer of the descending thoracic aorta. ⋯ Penetrating atherosclerotic ulcer can leads to intramural hematoma, dissection, aneurysmal dilatation, pseudoaneurysm, or aortic rupture. Therefore it should be treated once diagnosed. Endovascular stent-graft placement may be an effective treatment for penetrating atherosclerotic ulcer, especially in patients with poor condition.

[Favorable effect of chitosan sustained-release FK506 incorporated conduits on axonal regeneration in rat sciatic nerve].
To investigate the efficacy of 3 mm gap bridging repairing neurotmesis with chitosan sustained-release FK506 incorporated conduits. ⋯ Remaining 3 mm gap bridging repairing rat sciatic nerve with chitosan sustained-release FK506 incorporated conduits, which stabilize for more than 2 months before degradation in vivo, can significantly promote nerve regeneration and facilitate function recovery without adverse effects.

[Accuracy of preoperative magnetic resonance imaging in prediction of pathological stage and circumferential resection margin in rectal cancer].
To evaluate the accuracy of preoperative magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in prediction of pathological staging and involvement of circumferential resection margin (CRM) in rectal cancer. ⋯ Preoperative MRI provides poor predictive data as to subsequent pathologic tumor and mesorectal node stage, but does produce reliable prediction of clear CRM.
