[Effect of propofol on the activation of nuclear factor-kappa B and expression of inflammatory cytokines in cerebral cortex during transient focal cerebral ischemia-reperfusion: experiment with rats].
To investigate the effect of propofol on the activation of nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-kappa B) and the expression of inflammatory cytokines, such as interleukin-1 (IL-1), tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha), and intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) in cerebral cortex during transient focal cerebral ischemia-reperfusion, and to discuss the probable mechanism of its protective effect. ⋯ Propofol inhibits the inflammatory reaction by inhibiting the NF-kappa B activation during focal ischemia-reperfusion which may be one of the mechanisms of its neuroprotective function.

Randomized Controlled Trial[Application of dynamic bubble trap in coronary artery bypass with cardiopulmonary bypass: an initial study].
To investigate the effectiveness of dynamic bubble trap (DBT) on air microbubble elimination from both the cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) circuit and middle cerebral arteries, and evaluate its possible impact on blood cells and coagulatory function. ⋯ DBT integration into the CPB circuit enhances neither blood cell damage nor coagulation disturbance. DBT effectively eliminates air microbubbles in arterial conduit; however, its microembolus elimination function is prone to die down during the total period of CPB.

To evaluate the effects of continuous early enteral nutrition on the gut barrier function in acute necrotizing pancreatitis (ANP). ⋯ EN helps maintain gut mucosal barrier, decreases endotoxin translocation, and decreases the extent of mucosal atrophy in ANP.
