[Effects of bronchial thermoplasty on airway remodeling, asthma control and quality of life in patients with severe asthma].
Objective: To investigate the effects of bronchial thermoplasty (BT) on airway remodeling, asthma control and quality of life in patients with severe asthma. Methods: From January to September 2019, 11 patients with severe asthma were recruited from China Japan Friendship Hospital to receive BT treatment. The treatment was performed over three sessions separated by 3-week intervals. ⋯ Results: Effects of BT in post-treatment group, compared with pre-treatment group: the mass of ASM and collagen in airway wall was significantly decreased [(9.8±2.5)% vs (25.8±7.7)%, (12.9±4.0)% vs (17.4±5.6)%] (both P<0.05), while basement membrane thickness was not significantly different (P>0.05); the percentage of eosinophils in BALF and peripheral blood, and total serum IgE were not significantly different (all P>0.05); ACT score and miniAQLQ score were significantly increased [(23.1±1.8) vs (13.8±6.2) points, (5.3±1.3) vs (3.6±1.5) points] (both P<0.05), while FEV(1)% pred was not statistically different (P>0.05). The mass of ASM was negatively correlated with ACT score (r=-0.712), miniAQLQ score (r=-0.557) and FEV(1)%pred (r=-0.477), while the mass of collagen was negatively correlated with ACT score (r=-0.549) and miniAQLQ score (r=-0.639) (all P<0.05). Conclusion: BT treatment could improve airway remodeling, asthma control and quality of life in patients with severe asthma; besides, the reduction of remodeling is related to the improvements of asthma control and quality of life.

[Construction and evaluation of a novel diagnosis pathway for 2019-Corona Virus Disease].
Objective: To construct and evaluate a diagnosis pathway (Xiangya pathway) for Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). Methods: Consecutive subjects aged ≥12 years old who were screened for COVID-19 were included in Xiangya Hospital of Central South University from January 23 to February 3, 2020, and the subjects were further divided into the inception cohort and the validation cohort. The gender, age, onset time of disease of the subjects were recorded. ⋯ In validation cohort, the specificity and accuracy of the Xiangya pathway was 0.967, the positive rate of nucleic acid test was 76.9%(10/13). Conclusions: The Xiangya pathway can predict the nucleic acid test results of COVID-19, and can be applied as a reliable strategy to screen patients with suspected COVID-19 among people aged ≥12 years in areas other than Hubei during the epidemic period of COVID-19. The cohort size needs to be increased for further validation.

[CT imaging analysis of 33 cases with the 2019 novel coronavirus infection].
Objective: To explore the CT imaging features of the 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) infection in order to summarize the imaging characteristics of the disease and improve the ability of imaging diagnosis and early diagnosis of the disease. Methods: From January 13, 2020 to January 31, 2020, a total of 33 patients with 2019-nCoV infection diagnosed and treated by Suzhou Fifth People's Hospital were analyzed retrospectively, including 20 males and 13 females, with an average age of (50±12) years, ranging from 20 to 70 years old. There were 3 cases of mild type, 27 cases of common type and 3 cases of severe type. ⋯ CT manifestations include multiple parts, subpleural area or middle and lateral field of lung, ground glass shadow and consolidation, or coexistence. Some cases have pleural thickening or interlobular septal thickening. CT images can indicate the diagnosis of COVID-19 and provide important basis for early detection and disease monitoring.

[Change of cervical sagittal alignment after the treatment of growing rods to the early-onset scoliosis].
Objective: To determine the impact of growing rods (GR) technique on cervical alignment in early-onset scoliosis (EOS) through the change of cervical alignment parameters after the GR surgery. Methods: Total of 24 consecutive EOS patients treated in Beijing Chao-Yang Hospital from 2009 to 2018 were retrospectively reviewed (17 males and 7 females). Cervical lordosis, T(1) slope and C(2-7) sagittal vertical axis (C(2-7)SVA), thoracic/lumbar Cobb angle, thoracic kyphosis (TK), global kyphosis Cobb angle, SVA were included in radiographic data in the full spinal standing X-ray before and post operation and at the last follow-up. ⋯ The occurrence of PJK was identified as an independent risk factor for the abnormality of C(2-7)SVA during the GR surgery with logistic regression analysis(OR=11.57, 95%CI: 1.49-91.54, P<0.05). Conclusions: When used for EOS to correct deformity, GR surgery will increase the cervical lordosis and T(1) slope angle of EOS patients. More attention should be paid to the cervical sagittal alignment and cervical sagittal imbalance in EOS patients with PJK.
