Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study[Comparison of high-intensity and anaerobic threshold programs in rehabilitation for patients with moderate to severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease].
To compare two training programs in rehabilitation for patients with moderate to severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). ⋯ Both the HI and the AT groups had significant improvements in exercise capacity and dyspnea after pulmonary rehabilitation. The degree of improvement in both groups was similar. But the HI group showed significant improvement in the anaerobic threshold and decrease in ventilatory requirement.

[The prevalence of deep venous thrombosis in 337 suspected pulmonary embolism patients].
The purpose of our study was to evaluate the prevalence of deep venous thrombosis(DVT) in suspected pulmonary embolism patients. ⋯ The prevalence of DVT in patients with pulmonary embolism and the prevalence of pulmonary embolism in patients with DVT are both high (44% vs 63%); therefore it is necessary to examine the pulmonary arteries and the lower extremity deep veins at the same time.

[The changing patterns and the associated factors of microbial pathogens in ventilator-associated pneumonia in a respiratory intensive care unit from 1995 to 2004].
To investigate the changing patterns and associated factors of microbial pathogens which caused ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) in our respiratory intensive care unit (RICU) from 1995 to 2004. ⋯ The incidence of VAP was not increased in the recent 10 years in our RICU, but the incidence of VAP caused by Acinetobacter baumanii. Staphylococcus aureus and MRSA increased significantly, may be related to the decrease of duration of aerosolized therapy, the usage of different kinds of antibiotics and cross-infection between inpatients.

[Investigation of the quadriceps strength in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease].
To investigate the quadriceps strength in patients with stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and the characteristics of quadriceps dysfunction in COPD patients. ⋯ Our data showed that quadriceps dysfunction was common in COPD patients. QMVC was impaired to a greater extent than isometric endurance, and QMVC positively correlated with the severity of airflow obstruction. The maximal twitch tension induced by magnetic femoral nerve stimulation was an objective method to assess quadriceps strength.
