. Respiratory epithelial adenomatoid hamartoma - typical but underdiagnosed pathology of nasal cavity and sinuses.
Respiratory epithelial adenomatoid hamartoma (REAH) is relatively new diagnosis, firstly described in WHO tumour classification in 2005. It is a benign lesion affecting nose and paranasal sinuses. Although REAH was considered a rare entity, it is recently more frequently revealed in histopathological exam in patients undergoing endoscopic surgery for nasal polyposis. ⋯ Considering quite frequent occurrence of REAH in patients with nasal polyposis and low awareness of the disease itself among ENT specialists, pathologists and radiologists it is still relatively underdiagnosed lesion. The possibility of misdiagnosis and confusion with other more serious diseases like inverted papilloma or low-grade adenocarcinoma is of clinical importance. It may lead to overtreatment and too aggressive surgical therapy.

Artificial intelligence and modern information and communication technologies entering medicine.
Many new technologies based on computer technologies which are very successful in industry spread over the medicine and became integral part of all its disciplines. Artificial intelligence opened new possibilities for managing and solving many problems in both - theoretical and practical health care. ⋯ They are capable to analyze not only enormous amounts of data (big data) in an extremely short time but also these processes of analyses are easily improved by machine itself (machine learning). Examples of AI application in several medical disciplines and itinerary for Electronic Health Records adoption in the Czech health care are listed.

ReviewMedical consequences of Chernobyl with focus on the endocrine system: Part 1.
In the last 70 years, atomic disasters have occurred several times. The nuclear power plant accident at Chernobyl in 1986 in North-Central Ukraine was a unique experience in population exposures to radiation by all ages, and ongoing studies have brought a large amount of information on effects of radiation on human organism. Concerning the deteriorating global security situation and the strong rhetoric of some of the world leaders, the knowledge on the biological effects of ionizing radiation and the preventive measures designed to decrease the detrimental effects of radiation gains a new dimension, and involves all of us. This review focuses on the long-term effects of Chernobyl catastrophe especially on the endocrine system in children and in adults, and includes a summary of preventive measures in case of an atomic disaster.

The vast number of outbreaks of tension on the planet shows that it is impossible to underestimate the preparation level of population protection in emergencies. The possibility of a terrorist attack, including the use of particularly toxic or biological substances cannot be excluded or totally prevented at this point. In fact, there may not only be a terrorist attack. ⋯ The current state of the Czech healthcare system in terms of preparedness for mass emergencies is insufficient and requires prompt correction, though not through hastily adopted measures. Ideally, looking into the success of the Israeli preparedness system, where the public has been exposed to high levels of threat from a variety of causes for decades, could greatly aid the Czech Republic in moving forward effectively. The number of victims of terrorist attacks there outpaces 10000, a fact that shows Israel is experienced in responding to emergency incidents.
