[Experimental prostaglandin E2 therapy of acute kidney failure due to the crush syndrome].
It has been shown for the first time that intraaortal injection of PGE2 to dogs with acute renal failure caused by the crush syndrome makes renal function (glomerular filtration, tubular reabsorption, renal plasmaflow, maximal tubular secretion, minute and diurnal diuresis) return to normal.

A study was made of the possibility of forming nicotine addiction in laboratory rats and using it as the basis for the design of experimental nicotine toxicomania. Experiments were carried out on 56 rats placed in individual cages with a possibility of free choice between water and 0.005% nicotine solution for 2 to 4 months. ⋯ These quantitative relationships remained unchanged whatever the time of contact with nicotine. Thus, the possibility has been shown of designing experimental nicotine toxicomania with marked elements of physical dependence in rats consuming nicotine on a voluntary basis.

Comparative Study[Morphological and cytological characteristics of the burn healing process by various treatment methods].
Morphological and cytological methods were used to study the healing of a burn wound in local isolation wards (an open treatment method) and under ointment bandages (a closed treatment method). Biopsy specimens and imprints from the burn wound surface were taken from 40 patients. ⋯ During treatment under bandages wound decontamination was extremely slow. For a long time wound exudate shows the predominance of dystrophically changed neutrophils, while granulation tissue in the wound cavity if formed only at the 21st-24th day after the treatment commencement.

Comparative Study[Changes in the air-blood barrier of the lungs during the breathing of helium-oxygen gas mixtures].
The changes in the pulmonary air-blood barrier (ABB), occurring under the influence of helium-oxygen gaseous mixtures containing 11, 21 and 40% O2 in helium were studied in rats of two age groups (adult animals and 2-week-old cubs). The mean arithmetic and harmonic thickness of the ABB increased and its ultrastructure changed. It is suggested that helium exerts an indirect effect on the pulmonary ABB and that this effect does not depend on the O2 concentration in a gaseous mixture or on the animals' age. The electron microscopy data have demonstrated the endothelium of lung capillaries to be the most sensitive structural component as regards the action of helium-oxygen gaseous mixtures.

[Effect of bacterial endotoxin on gastric emptying and on passive absorption of salicylate in the small intestine].
The salicylate content in blood plasma after its administration into the stomach and small intestine during experimental endotoxemia in mice has been measured. In early stages of intoxication gastric evacuation was fairly slow. ⋯ In the last stages of intoxication, passive absorption in the small intestine increased. Administration of histamine, serotonin and ciproheptadine did not produce any essential effect on the salicylate transport across the intestinal wall.
