[Effects of acupuncture on the pulmonary function and heart rate variability in different state of bronchial asthma].
To observe the underlying mechanism of acupuncture technique for ventilating the lung, invigorating the spleen and tonifying the kidney in the treatment of bronchial asthma (or asthma for short). ⋯ Acupuncture is significantly superior to medication in improving the pulmonary function of asthma patients with different state of disease, which is related to its function in regulating activities of the autonomic nervous system.

To study the effects of electroacupuncture (EA) on the immunoreactivity of focal cutaneous cannabinoid receptor 2 (CB2) positive cells in adjuvant arthritis (AA) rats. ⋯ EA of GB30 and GB34 can raise the immunoactivity of cutaneous CB2 receptor positive cells in the inflammatory tissue which maybe contribute to its effects in relieving inflammatory pain and suppressing focal inflammation and adjusting the balance of nociception and antinociception in AA rats.

To investigate the relationship between mast cell degranulation and acupuncture analgesia. ⋯ Both EA and MA stimulation of "Zusanli" (ST 36) can effectively raise pain threshold, simultaneously, and enhance the degranulation ratio of mast cells in the stimulated ST36 area.
-
To investigate the role of mast cells in acupuncture analgesia in rats. ⋯ Acupuncture of ST36 has a significant analgesia and enhances the degranulation of mast apparently cells, which is weakened by injection of DSC in the acupoint area, suggesting an important role of mast cells in acupuncture-induced analgesia.

The vast research have demonstrated that the acupuncture analgesia is effected through a physiological mechanism brought about by the nervous system, particularly the central nervous system. We combined the acupuncture effects and theory of channels and collaterals with the new advance of pain neurophysiology, and centred attention on nucleus raphe magnus (NRM), that is one of the origins of the important descending inhibitory pathways of the intrinsic analgesic systems in brain. The unit discharges of NRM neurons and their nociceptors/ph responses were recorded extracellularly with glass microelectrode at 1495 neurons on 634 wastar rats. ⋯ Thus when patient's emotion was very nervous or physical exercise was very strong, EA analgesic effects would be decreased. Therefore, in order to guarantee EA analgesic effects, it is necessary that patients should take a rest and calm down before electroacupuncture. The contrary action between pyramidal and extrapyramidal systems in EA analgesia may be the one of mechanisms of that EA analgesia to be not full and changeful.
