To observe the effect of acupuncture on activities of microglia in traumatic brain injury (TBI) rats. ⋯ Acupuncture intervention may accelerate neurological function recovery in TBI rats, which is closely related to its effects in inhibiting the activation of microglia and secondary nerve damage.

We have demonstrated that electroacupuncture (EA) of "Weizhong" (BL 40) and "Huantiao" (GB 30) could evidently relieve mechanical hyperalgesia in spared nerve injury (SNI) rats. The present study was designed to observe the effect of EA on levels of cAMP, and protein kinase A (PKA) and cAMP response element binding protein (CREB) in the lumbar spinal cord of the same pain model rats, so as to explore its mechanisms underlying improvement of neuropathic pain. ⋯ EA intervention-induced down-regulation of cAMP, PKA and CREB levels in the lumbar spinal cord may contribute to its analgesic effect in neuropathic pain rats, suggesting an involvement of reduction of cAMP/PKA/CREB signaling of spinal cord in EA analgesia.

To analyze the regularity of acupoint selection in the treatment of insomnia by using catgut embedding so as to provide reference and evidence for clinical application. ⋯ Acupoint catgut embedding therapy is effective in the treatment of insomnia, being worthy of further popularization in clinical practice.

To observe the effect of acupuncture combined with medication (Rule Granule) on serum prolactin (PRL)，estradiol (E2) and progestone (P) contents and expressions of prolactin receptor (PRLR), estrogen receptor (ER) and progestrone receptor (PR) proteins in mammary gland (MG) tissues of MG hyperplasia (MGH) rats, so as to explore its mechanisms underlying improvement of MGH. ⋯ Acupuncture, Rule Granule, and acupuncture combined with Rule Granule can improve hyperplasia of mammary gland in rats, which may be related to their effects in reducing serum PRL and E2 and breast ER, PR and PRLR expression levels, and in increasing serum P level. The therapeutic effects of acupuncture plus Rule Granule are better than those of simple acupuncture and simple Rule Granule.

To observe the effect of electroacupuncture (EA) on the rhythm of running-wheel activity of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) mice and the expression of Per 1 and Per 2 (circadian rhythm genes) in the hypothalamic suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN), so as to investigate its mechanism underlying regulating circadian rhythm. ⋯ EA can benignly regulate the rhythm of running-wheel activity of HCC mice, which may be closely related to its effect in down-regulating the expression of circadian rhythm genes Per 1 and Per 2 in the SCN.
