Randomized Controlled Trial
[Treatment of Rheumatoid Arthritis by Bee-venom Acupuncture].
To study the clinical efficacy and safety of bee-venom acupuncture therapy for rheumatoid arthritis (RA). ⋯ Bee-venom acupuncture therapy for RA patients is safe and effective, worthy of popularization and application in clinical practice.

To observe the effect of different frequencies of electroacupuncture (EA) stimulation on pain threshold (PT) and expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in dorsal horns (DHs) of the lumbar spinal cord in resiniferatoxin (RTX)-induced post-herpetic neuralgia (PHN) rats, so as to reveal its mechanism in alleviating PHN. ⋯ EA at 2 Hz can significantly reduce VEGF expression in the lumbar spinal cord DHs of PHN rats, which is possibly in part related to its effect in alleviating the mechanical allodynia. Our study suggests that 2 Hz EA is the best stimulation frequency for relieving PHN.

We have repeatedly demonstrated that electroacupuncture (EA) of "Neiguan"(PC 6) can improve myocardial ischemia in rats. The present study was designed to investigate the metabolomic profile of peripheral blood se-rum and myocardium involving EA-induced improvement of myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury (MIRI) in rats by using nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. ⋯ EA stimulation of PC 6 can regulate serum or/and myocardial metabolites as amino acids, carbohydrates, lipids, etc. in MIRI rats, of which both serum and myocardial creatine, GPC and glucose may be jointly confer a favorable potential for EA-induced improvement of MIRI.

To attempt to establish an objective quantitative indicator to characterize the trigger point activity, so as to evaluate the effect of dry needling on myofascial trigger point activity. ⋯ Dry needling is able to relieve myofascial trigger point activity in rats, which is better than that of simple passive stretching therapy.

To observe the effect of electroacupuncture (EA) on mechanical hyperalgesia threshold (MHTs) and thermal hyperalgesia threshold (THTs) and content of proteinase-activated receptors 2 (PAR 2) in dorsal root ganglia (DRG) in rats with inflammatory pain, so as to explore its peripheral mechanism underlying improvement of inflammatory pain. ⋯ EA can suppress hyperalgesia priming in inflammatory pain rats which may be related to its effect in down-regulating PAR 2 level in the lumbar DRGs.
