Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study
Comparison of efficacy and safety of topiramate with gabapentin in migraine prophylaxis: randomized open label control trial.
To compare the efficacy and safety of topiramate with gabapentin in the prophylaxis of migraine patients. ⋯ Gabapentin appeared well tolerated in 30 (75%) patients compared to topiramate in 23(57.5%) patients. Both drugs were equally effective in migraine prophylaxis.

To evaluate the incidence of complications, morbidity and mortality, and the associated risk factors with mortality at a Paediatric Cardiology Intensiv Care Unit of a developing country. ⋯ Critically ill cyanotic young infants in the first 24 hours after operation experienced high mortality. Prolonged mechanical ventilation was also associated with high mortality.

To evaluate the current practices regarding formal or informal implementation of individual elements of the World Health Organisation's Surgical Safety Checklist in tertiary care hospitals of Karachi and to establish a pre-checklist baseline to suggest a plan for implementation of the checklist. ⋯ The results suggest that the safety of surgical patients in the operating theaters in hospitals under review was far from satisfactory. Introduction of and adherence to a safety checklist would result in significant reduction in death and complication rate.
