[Acute superior mesenteric vein thrombosis. A retrospective study of 9 patients].
To determine diagnostic modalities and both immediate and long-term treatment of superior mesenteric venous thrombosis. ⋯ Diagnosis of superior mesenteric vein thrombosis is frequently delayed and relies on CT-scan with intravenous contrast. Prognosis is globally favourable but depends on early application of anticoagulation therapy. In case of surgery, bowel-sparing resection is indicated and enterostomies are often needed. Genetic disorders predisposing to thrombosis are very frequent, that may indicate prolonged even definitive anticoagulation therapy.

Review Comparative Study[Pulmonary artery rupture with Swan-Ganz catheter during cardiac surgery: management and decision-making].
Pulmonary artery catheterization is almost uniformly used nowadays in cardiac surgery. Although rare, rupture of the pulmonary artery following catheterization is highly lethal. This review examines ways of avoiding its occurrence and means of improving outcomes in case of rupture.

Comparative Study[Feasibility of colorectal surgery without colonic preparation. A prospective study].
Mechanical bowel preparation (MBP), aimed at reducing the infectious complications of colorectal surgery, was considered as indispensable. This benefit is actually disputed. The aim of this study was to report an experience of colorectal surgery without MBP. ⋯ The colorectal surgery without MBP may be safely performed and could improve the quality of life of patients in the perioperatory period.

Aortoduodenal fistulae are an unusual complication of aortic pathology or surgery and a life-threatening entity. The results of surgical treatment may be disappointing because of postoperative complications. We report here two cases and discuss the diagnostic investigations and characteristics of aortoduodenal fistulae.
