Case Reports[Jejunal perforation by a fish bone diagnosed by CT-Scan: report of two cases].
The authors relate two cases of peritonitis secondary to jejunal perforation by a fish bone. Clinically, the first patient presented signs and symptoms of acute diverticulitis and the second had signs of duodenal perforation. In both cases, the diagnosis was made by the CT-scan revealing a linear radio-opaque object suggestive of a fish bone perforating the jejunum. ⋯ In the second case, jejunal perforation occurred in an unaltered small bowel loop and a short intestinal resection was performed. The postoperative course was uneventful for both patients. These clinical cases allow us to discuss the several fish bone perforation site and our patients precipitating factors.

[Preoperative oral information prior to planned thyroid surgery: the surgeon, physician, lawyer and judge's point of view].
Analysis of the consequence of the preoperative information delivered orally to patients requiring surgery for benign pathology of the thyroid gland from various perspective (head and neck surgeon, physician, judge, lawyer). ⋯ Oral information of the patient regarding the surgical risks resulted in an important stress for the patient and modified the relation patient-surgeon. Due to the information, a non-neglectable group of patients elicited not to follow the advice of the surgeon. Various measures are discussed since the information on the surgical related risks is a must from a legal point of view but is also highly appreciated and requested by most of the patients.

Several studies have evaluated the role and effect of blood transfusion in colorectal surgery. To date, no recommendation concerning its use in colorectal surgery has been yet published. However, blood transfusion is often required in colorectal surgery, especially in anaemic patients who suffer from malignant disease. The aim of this review is to define the effect of blood transfusion on oncologic and operative results, and to evaluate the clinical potential of alternative to allogeneic blood transfusion in order to promote the development of transfusion policy in colorectal surgery.

[Morbi-mortality after Hartmann procedure for peritonitis complicating sigmoid diverticulitis. A retrospective analysis of 85 cases].
Hartmann's procedure (HP) is a simple operation, which can be performed by all the surgeons. However, it remains criticized (high morbimortality, low rate of intestinal continuity restoration). The aim of this study was to analyse natural history of HP and intestinal continuity restoration for sigmoid diverticulitis, and to assess risk factors for mortality, morbidity and absence of intestinal continuity restoration. ⋯ HP is associated with a high morbidity and mortality rates. Intestinal continuity restoration rate was high in this series. HP is a simple operation in high-risk patients with advanced peritonitis. This study allows to precise natural history of HP. Knowledge of this history is crucial for choosing the best operation (between HP and anastomosis) for patient with peritonitis complications sigmoid diverticuitis.

[Bile duct injuries at laparoscopic cholecystectomy: early repair results].
To compare the early repair results in bile duct injuries at laparoscopic cholecystectomy to a later repair and so the early reconstruction by an end-to-end anastomosis to a Roux-en-Y bypass. ⋯ Good results may be performed, by an early repair in bile duct injuries at laparoscopic cholecystectomy, either by an duct to duct anastomosis or a Roux-en-Y bypass.
