Multicenter Study Comparative Study Clinical Trial[Central venous catheterization: complications of different placements].
The aim of this prospective multicentric non-randomised trial was to report the complications of the central venous catheter insertion with different techniques and to assess the advantages of the low lateral approach to the internal jugular vein, according to the technique originally described by Jernigan et al, with our own modifications. ⋯ On our experience, we advocate the low lateral approach to the internal jugular vein as first choice technique for venipuncture in both adults and children for both short and long-term central venous approach, because it is associated to high rate of outcome and to low rate of complications in comparison with other techniques.

[Late intestinal fistula following implantation of parietal abdominal prostheses].
The aim of this retrospective study was to describe an unusual complication of the nonabsorbable meshes used for repair of incisional hernia or inguinal hernia. ⋯ The intestinal fistulas associated with prosthetic repair of the abdominal wall are mostly observed with intraperitoneal mesh but this factor is not exclusive. Their frequency after repair of incisional or inguinal hernia with non absorbable mesh is estimated between 0.3 and 3.5%. The use of nonabsorbable mesh should be limited to the indications of strict necessity, without any septic context or emergency surgery. The contact of the mesh with the bowel should be formally avoided.

[Use of vicryl mesh for reinforcing the pancreatic stump in pancreatojejunostomy].

[Suspected acute appendicitis. Role of enhanced helical computed tomography. Prospective study of 100 patients].
To assess the diagnosis accuracy of helical computed tomography (CT) in patients with suspected appendicitis. ⋯ Enhanced helical CT is a good imaging diagnostic tool for suspected appendicitis. It may reduce the number of patients admitted for observation and decrease the rate of negative appendectomy.
