Observational StudySurvey of Assessment and MAnagement of CoRonary Heart Disease PaTients (SMART) in India.
Survey of Assessment and MAnagement of CoRonary Heart Disease PaTients was undertaken to describe profile and management pattern of adult Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS) patients from presentation till discharge, in private tertiary care Indian hospitals. ⋯ UA is the commonest and NSTEMI is the least common type of ACS observed in our study. We observed important differences in patient profile, time to hospital presentation, in-hospital acute pharmacological management and vascular interventions performed between the three different types of ACS.

Case ReportsPyomyositis Complicated by Deep Venous Thrombosis - A Unique Case of Reverse Lemierre's Syndrome.
We report a case of a young individual who presented with fever and swelling of right upper and lower limbs for 3 weeks. Subsequently he developed shortness of breath and decreased urine output and had to be mechanically ventilated. ⋯ Evaluation for an infective locus led to the diagnosis of pyomyositis and DVT appeared to have developed secondary to the muscle inflammation as a part of Reverse Lemierre's syndrome. Thus this case highlights the importance of considering this diagnosis in a similar setting and not to ascribe every case of respiratory failure in a background of DVT to be due to PTE.

Case ReportsDisseminated Rhinosporidiosis Masquerading as Sarcoma.
Rhinosporidiosis, though reported from several countries, has the highest incidence in India (notably South India) and Sri Lanka, with most cases presenting as nasal polyps. Nasopharynx and palpebral conjunctiva account for 85% of the sites. ⋯ Rhinosporidiosis affecting skin, subcutaneous tissue and bone are uncommon. Herein we report a rare case of disseminated rhinosporidiosis mimicking a soft tissue sarcoma.

Role of Risorine in the Treatment of Drug - Susceptible Pulmonary Tuberculosis: A Pilot Study.
To study the efficacy and tolerability of Risorine Capsule (A fixed dose combination of Rifampicin 200 mg + INH 300 mg + Piperine 10 mg) therapy in the treatment of drug-susceptible pulmonary tuberculosis patients who developed GI intolerance with standard WHO anti TB regimen. ⋯ Risorine, a novel formulation of rifampicin 200 mg with bioenhancer piperine 10mg, is found to be highly effective and well tolerated in the treatment of drug - susceptible pulmonary tuberculosis.

Multicenter Study Observational StudyManagement Practices in Indian Patients with Uncontrolled Hypertension.
Hypertension (HTN), being a major risk factor for cardiovascular diseases (CVDs), is an important issue of medical and public health. High blood pressure (BP) is ranked as the third most important risk factor for attributable burden of disease in south Asia (2010). Hypertension (HTN) exerts a substantial public health burden on cardiovascular health status and healthcare systems in India. Uncontrolled hypertension among adults with hypertension is associated with increased mortality. An inadequate data is available in India on uncontrolled hypertension. ⋯ Uncontrolled hypertension is a major problem in India. It is prudent to focus on multiple risk factors while treating hypertension. A combination therapy with multiple blood pressure lowering drugs are important and concerns should be identified while selecting the appropriate dosage of combinations of anti-hypertensive therapy and adherence to the therapy. The preferred choices for mono, dual combination and triple combination anti-hypertensive regimens are ARBs; ARB + CCB; ARB + CCB + Diuretics, respectively. In this study, most of the patients were on monotherapy; however a rationale combination therapy or dose adjustment is required for the effective management of hypertension. The protective measures to be taken to control hypertension includes reduction of physicians inertia, diet and physical activity, regular patient follow-up with BP measurements and counselling, and the improvement in patient adherence.
