Survival rates of advanced estrogen-receptor positive breast cancer. Analysis of 211 cases.
About 80% of breast cancer (BC) cases express estrogen receptor (ER), which has been correlated with good prognosis and response to estrogen deprivation Aim: To characterize ER positive advanced BC (ABC) patients treated at our institution assessing the impact of clinical pre-sentation (stage IV, de novo disease at diagnosis versus systemic recurrence) and BC subtype on survival rates. ⋯ Clinical presentation (stage IV vs. systemic recurrence) and tumor subtype are key determinants of OS in ABC.

Diagnostic values of shear wave elastography and strain elastography for breast lesions.
Strain elastography (SE) and shear wave elastography (SWE) have high diagnostic yield for breast lesions, but the optimal parameters remain elusive. ⋯ The diagnostic value of SWE in combination with SE for breast lesions exceeded that of SE or SWE alone. Esd showed a good diagnostic yield when SWE was used alone or combined with SE.

Case ReportsTransitory response of a myelodysplastic syndrome with deletion of chromosome 5q to thalidomide. Report of one case.
Myelodysplastic syndrome with deletion of chromosome 5q (5q-syndrome) has a favorable prognosis and a low risk of transformation to acute myeloid leukemia, when treated with lenalidomide. Azacitidine leads to complete remission even as second-line therapy and in patients with clonal evolution. We report a 70 years old female without previous exposure to myelotoxic drugs, presenting with three weeks with fatigue and dyspnea. ⋯ She achieved complete remission with a normal karyotype and completed 12 cycles of treatment. Thereafter, she relapsed and received only supportive care for a year. She suffered an ischemic stroke and died two weeks later.

Peripheral venoarterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation for periprocedural Cardiogenic shock during interventional cardiology.
Cardiogenic shock (CS) is uncommon in the cardiac catheterization laboratory (CCL) among patients undergoing coronary angiography. Periprocedural CS is more frequent in high-risk patients and in technically demanding procedures. ⋯ pVA-ECMO should be considered in patients with periprocedural CS as a bridge to recovery. Its use was associated with improved clinical outcomes in this series.

[Magnetic resonance of the hands for the diagnosis and follow-up of rheumatoid arthritis].
Conventional radiography of hands has been the imaging technique used for the early diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis, considering its easy access and ability to reveal structural damage. However, it does not provide information about inflammatory activity or prognosis of this disease. ⋯ This article reports the imaging protocol for magnetic resonance of the hands used at our institution for the diagnosis and follow-up of patients with rheumatoid arthritis. We also review the main imaging findings of the disease.
